Is it hereditary?

Interesting article in my morning MSN news feed. I have never heard of being transgendered as being an inherited trait but this does make one think.

I've always considered it to be a genetic trait, and thus either inherited or a result of mixing the mother and father's genes, along with a dose of certain hormones (or lack thereof).

I tend to agree with you Donna it is definitely genetic. However a pair of transgendered siblings has to be at the very least an anomaly at the very least. I ma sure somewhere there are some statistics out there on the occurrence of transgenderism within immediate families, siblings, cousins, etc. Maybe it is time to do some heavy duty surfing.

Check it out some interesting comments appear to indicate it's not as rare as one would assume.
