Apologies to Carly Simon.
Just under a year from now there will be an eclipse that will only be visible in the continental U.S., from the cost of Oregon to the cost of South Carolina.
Check out http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/path_through_the_US.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or the main page at http://www.eclipse2017.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is the definite #1 thing on my bucket list, anything else rates a 4. Even now it is hard to find accommodations. If this is something you'all might want to witness, get on it now.
I'll be in Wyoming next August.

Did you know you can view the eclipse using the disk from an old 3.5 floppy?

Re: seeing the total eclipse of the sun....
Just returned home. I was starting to have my doubts about traveling into the Totality Zone, when I could have observed around 95% in my own back yard. It was worth it!
From the time it goes total for about the next two min. or so, it is like nothing I have ever seen. So glad I took the effort and spent the money.
All I can say is WOW.
Kelly.
