rake .. in earlier vernacular, a slightly ne'er do well and ladies man. Also a tool of yard and garden.

When I was about 11, I was hanging out with the (other) giirls in our neighborhood on a hot summer day, lounging in chaise lounge chairs in the shade of a great old elm and sipping lemonade. One of the girls (named Martha) was trying to explain why her little female dog couldn't have puppies, but couldn't remember the name of the neutering operation. She told us, "She had a operation I think, my Mom said she was raked or hoed, or something."

Bake . . . the cake - personally, I prefer German Chocolate Cake or Carrot Cake.
