Leeza here with a weather report for SW Nebraska. sprinkling ATM but no rain in the forecast. I wonder if that means I should dig out the umbrella.

2 rains in 4 days. I wonder if we are getting some of Anna's excess rain.

Anyhoo, this is the Met Office forecast for tonight and tomorrow, for the UK Midlands:

This Evening and Tonight:
Remaining showers should largely die away during the evening, to leave many areas dry with clear spells. The north of the region may remain showery however, as northwesterly winds develop later. Becoming chilly in rural parts by dawn. Minimum Temperature 8 °C.

Tuesday 18th September:
Most will see sunny periods with further showers, these showers should mainly affecting the north and areas such as the Staffordshire Moorlands. Feeling rather cool given the breeze. Maximum Temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Wednesday similar to Tuesday. Occasional rain likely on Thursday, perhaps heavy at times. Drier and brighter on Friday, with sunny spells. Generally cool, particularly overnight.

Autumn is really here!

Hammond, Ponchatoula, Natalbany, and points inward. June 18, 2013.

After a hot and humid day (90/90) I sat on the porch to watch the fireflies come out. Instead, the lightning came out, and the wind picked up (ah, coolth!), and we got chased back inside by a northerly shower that spewed shot glasses of cold water at us.

It's stopped raining now, but I'm tired and will get up in a minute or two and go to bed. If I wake up early enough I'll finish the lawn and string-cut the high bits so they can be mowed. If that's not possible, the lawn may have to wait until October.

Such is life in the big easy.

Another frog-strangler today.

Blue sky and puffy clouds until 3pm, then whooosh! with the rain.
Otherwise in the mid-80s, and now mid-70s.

This is not the Louisiana I've been led to expect.

Kind father-in-law is having a diesel-powered generator (with auto-on) installed this week. Insurance against the usual and expected hurricanes. I don't see the need as we can always move temporarily to his house and occupy one of the three spare bedrooms, but spouse insists we should not look a free multi-thou$ power supply in the mouth. Kind FIL is also having a large window AC unit put in the office, the largest uncooled room in the house. Then we'll be able to work regardless of the elements, hot or windy. Of course if a hurricane is strong enough, we won't be in Louisiana any more. (Maybe Kansas?)

Great idea, since one of my fav things is watching weather women, and news casters, mostly to see what they're wearing, but I am a big environmental person. Here in NYC it's cloudy, rain off and on today and tomorrow as we are feeling the effects of this coastal storm going through the East Coast. It's in the 60's and this weekend should be int he 60's as well, but probably no rain.
