Labor Day

Post by Diana Michelle »

Tomorrow is Labor Day here in the United States. A 3 day weekend full of fun, BBQs with family and friends, getting the kids ready to start school, a final 3 day getaway in the sun, even a last summer fling. Been guilty of all but it also has another meaning, to honor the workers of America.

Let us never forget those who came before us who labored under less than desirable even dangerous conditions to build this country. Those who organized, walked picket lines, held out depriving themselves to bring us better wages and working conditions allowing the emergence of the middle class. We all owe each and every one of them our respect and gratitude for their efforts and sacrifices not only for the economic growth their efforts brought forth but also the social gains they initiated.
Remember Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did only she did it backwards and in high heels!
