Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
I came up with the name I currently use (and have been using for quite some time), back around 2002. I investigated some baby-names websites, and - not wanting a name that I thought had been recently beaten to death - I researched Shakespearean names. Celia is a character in As You Like It. The name seemed pleasantly quaint (it still does), and I can use it without having to qualify it excessively - it's used infrequently enough that I don't often have to tack on initials or year of birth in its associated online accounts. It comes up a little short on meaning though - I gather it means "blind".

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
Wanted something to match my initials of my given name, particular seeing as my brother and sister's names also begin with D. I thought about it a bit and decided on Diana as I knew a girl in college with that name and I always liked her style. Michelle is a feminine form of my original middle name. The major change was that as my parents turned their back on me when I told them of my plans to transition and have surgery I also changed my last name. My grandmother who I was always close to was the one stand out in the family who supported me through everything so I changed my last name to her maiden name.
Remember Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did only she did it backwards and in high heels!

A variation on my middle name. A nickname.
(and I don't seem to be able to use the poll.)

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
I wrestled with the name thing for quite a while when I first decided to join a forum. I wanted something a little unique but not over the top. I also didn't want a name that my wife could associate with anybody she knew. At the time she wasn't aware of my dressing preferences but I figured if she ever did find out (which she did ) she would picture me in high heels and a dress when she looked at that person. One night I was watching a sci-fi movie called Underworld. Kate Beckinsale is the main character. OMG does she look amazing in that movie. So I went with her characters name, Selene.

I note you previously posted in this topic on April 25, 2014 and there is no 'end date' on the poll; are you sure that you didn't already cast your response? If there is an "x" displayed next to any of the options - visible when you are logged in, that is - that means you have already answered the poll.
If you have not already taken the poll, my next question is: Are you logged in to the new forum, or the old?

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
I liked Margaret, Mary, and Anne but we have a friend named Margaret so I did not want to copy that. I like History, sailing, and in Reading about 16th Century Pirates I came across two female CROSSDRESSING pirates, women were not allowed aboard sailing ships. Mary Read and Anne Bonny met and became friends. They wanted to live a life of adventure on the high seas. In a sense In crossdressing myself I am living a life of high adventure too. At one time I had a girlfriend named Mary, would have been copying again but Anne is a female name I have seen in our family, oh Sarah was another favorite they are all so pretty and feminine, but Sarah has biblical connotations nothing wrong with that so I settled for Anne Bonny.
But I drop the Bonny in person, it is just a pen name I suppose. So if you ever meet me when my gender is running around on the feminine side you can call me by my proper name or appropriate name...Anne. I have a pen pal who does so when it is clear I am fem.

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
I thought about the name of an old girlfriend, Lena, and that didn't take. What came up for me was the birth certificate name of my oldest sister, Dee. Her original name was Anita Dee, but she became "Dee" right from the start, and never used 'Anita.' I did NOT like the idea of having to ask her for permission to use her name, but it seemed like the right thing to do. She said, sure, go ahead, and I took on the name. Later I remembered it was my mother's middle name, and I cried about that--I had completely forgotten its origins in the family. ( My mother died in 1994--six years before I dealt with the 'girl within.') It's as if my mother really wanted to get that name into the family, and so her fourth "daughter" is the one to carry it forward.

I just kind of made it up and Sandy sounded good, I guess that could be either a males name or a females name and it sounds more feminine than Jason that is for sure. Perhaps once I start to dress in public and what not and become a full time female I will come up with something a little bit better and that fits me in more of a feminine way.

Mine came from a supplier of a company I worked for. I saw the name on an invoice. I liked the spelling so I am using it.

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
Until I was 18 I didn't have a girl name. I suppose that this was because my crossdressing was so much a part of my persona, so integrated that I didn't feel that duality. But at 18, I took on the name Amy-Lynn. Amy was taken in homage to a tomboy girl who I was boob over bum about when I was in grade 12. I used to dream of being her girlfriend, and she being my boyfriend. Lynn was taken because it was used by both males and females and seems the perfect nexus. Later in life when I was in therapy, care-giver suggested that I adapt my name to a the female variation of my given name, hence Toni was taken instead of Amy.
Amy nonetheless lived on as she became the main character in my FTM crossdressing fiction. Therein she became the love interest of an MTF crossdresser named Toni.
One cool thing about being a crossdresser is that we can take on alternate personalities. My latest is hard rocker chick, Bunni Blade, lead guitarist and vocalist in the all crossdresser punk group - The Boy Dolls. Silly yes -- fun -- you betcha!
Hugs
Toni-Lynn

My femme name came from a memory I had of a strong and very intelligent young lady I once tutored. I keep thinking about her from time to time and wishing that I had her emotional strength.

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
Hi,
I didn't come up with it.
In fact my wife suggested the name when I joined. I was stuck for an idea, and she said, "How about Marissa?" I said, "I'll probably need a second name because just Marissa could be taken." She said, "Mae?"
And here I am, newly minted.
Love, Marissa Mae

I stood at the other end of the room with my back to my wife. She called out several names and the one I turned around on is the one I/we chose.
