Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
I asked my mom what she would have named me if I had been born a girl. She always wanted a son named Alexander Jeffrey, but dad wasn't going to have any of that, so I got named after and uncle and a grandfather. Now back to our story, mom would have named me Alexis, dad would have been okay with that. Mom got her 'AJ', cause I chose her middle name, 'Jean' to go with Alexis. Had mom married the first guy that asked her, she would have been Mrs. West. I chose West because thats kinda where Colorado girls live. I didn't learn about my choice of a last name until she asked me what name I chose, she was amazed, me too, kinda meant to be, maybe? So there you have it, Alexis Jean West or to most people, just AJ.
Not sure where I'm going, but there's no since being late

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
Paulette is simply a variation on Paul, my middle name.
I was named after my grandfather, who went by Pauli, and was a famous political writer until he took his family here from Hungary to escape political persecution and probably death.
I've used Paulo as a professional name (Paulo the Gypsy) when I did a knot-tying routine at Renfaires and such. Been a long time.
My first choice was Paula, but that had been taken.
I've had several legal names, first, middle, and last, having been adopted and such, so I don't feel particularly attached to any of them. I do remember my grandfather quite fondly, though, so choosing a variation on his name was pleasing to me.

Not sure how many of you went through several names before you settled on one, I did. I can remember at least 4 different names however as I grew older and I came out to my aunt she told me that my parents were going to name me Karen had I been a girl. Well in reality I was a girl, just not one they recognized so it was easy I became Karen.

April is my birth month, and the name of the first girl I ever kissed. Rose is Because I simply adore roses. In Jungian Psychology they are the symbol of the "Self " (Capital S;the totality of the individual, which is greater than the ego) I love the way they look and the way they smell. I Have even written poems about them; see the creative section if you want to read one. I've tried to grow them, too, but with no success.

I don't know about all you girls but I went through several femme names. I truly began to blossom in the mid 1980's (Ok so I am old ) and back then a very popular actress was Deidre Hall. I loved her look and style and wanted to be just like her so I took the name Deidre. I later chose Elizabeth for my middle name as it was my grandmother's name. Granted when some people see the name they still can't pronounce it and some of my friends and co-workers call me Dee for short but I love my name. Amazing how a sweet Polish girl ends with an Irish name!

She was a neighbor when growing up, and a majorette. Loved her outfits. My wife has met her, and thinks I was infatuated with her, but I was only interested in her outfits.

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
Hi Girls,
I wanted a name that has remained popular over the years so as not to date me to a certain time period. I researched names on the internet and found that the name Elizabeth had remained in the top 20 girls names for the previous 120 years. It also fit my personality, although I don't relate to the royalty aspect of the name. Its popularity, I assume, is because it's a biblical name and those seem to never lose favor in the USA. In fact three of my four children have biblical names, even though that was not the reason. The reason was that I wanted simple, common names that were also popular. In Western Culture, biblical names fit the bill.
Love always,
Elizabeth

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
Mine was picked for me by my wife.
Long story but when I first Started online I found the need to have a 'suitable' name. Yeah okay, they REALLY twisted my arm didn't they?
Steph picked 'Karin' as it A) was close to his name and B) 'suited me'?
At that time also there was an actress who played Amy Pond on Dr Who that my kids watched..she was cute! Her RL name was Karin with an 'i' so that helped a lil bit too haha
Talk about growing into a role... Its now my legal name.

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
I never really thought about it much when I stared dressing but after my sister wised up to me and started treating me like a little sister she said I needed a girly name. Well thought about it and just blurted out Heather! She said it was a cute name for a little sister so I became Heather. A few years ago I thought about it and added Jean as my middle name as that is my mother's name.

I like some of you played around with several names but never felt truly comfortable with any of them. It was in 1996 my Grandmother who I was extremely close to passed away. It was then I knew I had to honor her in my own way and I knew Grandma would understand. I chose her name, Gertrude. I really didn't want to be called Gert or Gertie like she was so I chose a more modern nickname, Trudy.

Re: How you came up with your Gurl name?
I used to work with a girl called Belinda. She always dressed up nicely in lovely clothes and fab black tights and high heels. That was thirty eight years ago and the name has stuck. I experimented with other names earlier on. In my early twenties I called myself Sharon Webster. It seemed so girly at the time. I have also toyed with the names Denise, Nicola and Andrea which are all lovely names but Belinda is going to stick with me forever. If had been born a girl I would have loved to be have been called Belinda.

I just always liked the name and so I became Vera. I would love to be Vera 24/7 but can only be her about 75% of the time.

My wife came up with my name. I was talking to her about joining this forum, and said I would need a fem name, she came up with Vanesa.
