Black Crossdressers?

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Black Crossdressers?

Post by Shayla »

I was a little nervous to post this.
But first and foremost, we're ALL sisters in this community and I appreciate chatting with all of you. I'm the last lady to discriminate because of race. But I just wanted to know if there are any other black CDs who can share experiences how our culture and community has approached them dressing in drab whether you're out or not. We seem to be a rare bunch, at least online. When I google black Crossdressers, mostly porn sites come up :?

Omit black from your search and the to three are porn sites. I found that black mtf provided better results. [Now excuse me while I go clean out my search history.... ok, I'm back]

Search engines don't know what our intent is. They just know who pays for the highest rank for given terms. They just know what pages get visited the most. The porn industry knows how to advertise.

It took me a long time to figure this out (and I was inside the industry!). For the longest time I suffered a lot of self inflicted humiliation while trying to understand who I am.

I haven't kept a tally. Till just now it didn't seem relevant. If you look at what is posted on you tube, there is a fine representation of black CDers that are both lovely and inspirational.

Our community plays it pretty close to the vest. You have sisters out there, you just have to find them.

And, of course, you have everyone here.

Kelly.

There certainly are black CDs out there. Arielle Enid was one who was here for a while.

Hi, Shayla -

Another member who fits your search criteria is Tammy Lynn although she has not been here in several years. However, feel free to send her a PM - she's very friendly!

Shayla,
Interesting question. On a slightly different tact; I'm not black, but I am an american mutt being a mix of generations of nationalities and ethnicities. A bunch of the friends I came out to early on were black. It seems in a way, we have a shared history because of discrimination. We've had these discussions.

I discovered that, as black being a culture, an ethnicity, a group, etc.; even within, there are biases and predjudices and discrimination. I know from years of being transgender, we have our own such problems of diiscrimination. I don't know if being black and transgender is a "double whammie" but I cetainly understand your desire to know what you're up against in this crazy world of human beings. Hopefully your encounters will be honest -- good or bad.

Hmm, well thus far you haven't received a response from a black person on this site; I guess it's just a numbers game. :-)

Anyway, on another site I have several black friends and we chat it up regularly. I'd be happy to tell you more if you'd like.

Dear Shayla,

The TG community is a minority in general, even more as a minority among a minority in the black community. The meetings that my husband attends has maybe 30-40 regular members, including two blacks. One CD, one TG. That works out to the same approximate race average in the general vicinity.
So, I think you are well represented, just harder to find in some areas. I could be completely wrong, but heard that the black community is less accepting of gender variances. That includes gays, lesbians, Cd's, Tg's, and any others I don't know about or forgot to mention.
Personally, I'm focused on relationships and presentation. Fun talk about being female in the big bad world. The last thing on my mind is race.

Hi Shayla,

Like it or not, this is a very white forum. There are lots of black CDs; they just have other fora where they feel more comfortable and less like outsiders. It's not simply a difference of race, it's a difference of culture, and cultural connection is what makes people comfortable.

(Please, people. Don't assume I'm being racist or signifying or that I'm accusing anyone else here of being racist.)

And no, I don't know what those fora are.

Your best bet is to find a CD of color and ask them. There are a few blacks on http://www.myhusbandbetty.com/community/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, if you can't find any here.
