My son's story

Post by JuliaG(SO) »

Hello I am Julia and I am a mother of a crossdresser,my 10 year old son Tyler whom goes by Kayla.I noticed something was not right,a pair of my heels out of place and this started when he was 5 years old. Finally I did catch him doing this.I did not get mad and I knew something was on his mind.He admited to liking anything feminine and I did seek help for him.He was diagnosed with being a crossdresser by a gender specialist.I knew after that I loved him still and I do to this day.I just want to see him happy and I know he is.

Julia,

You just don't know the difference you can make. It is so wonderful to see a mother do the right thing. I can not even imagine having an understanding parent. Make sure he knows he is not abnormal, he is not a freak and he is not alone. There are millions of us.

Love always,

Welcome Julia,

What a great Mom you must be!!!! Congratulations and I should not beg you, but PLEASE find the time to stay with us and share what is going on with you and your son. You can really make a difference in other people's lives. You may not even realize the positive input that you could have helping others deal with, what I am fond of calling, "our gift." As you will find, a lot of us do not, did not have understanding parents or family and seeing a positive response can make it a lot nicer for all of us.

Thanks again, Julia and we do look forward to your continuing to share with us.

Julia, it is so great to hear about a supporting parent especialy of a young child. I have often wondered how my life would of been different if my family had been accepting.

I am not complaining though as in my younger years it was thought we crossdressed by choice rather than being wired this way. Also I wasn't disowned by my family as some who post on here were.

Hi Julia,

I am so happy for your son and very proud of you as his mom. I can relate very much as my mother caught me at 14 dressing in her cloths and after the shock and my why,s she supported me all the way but in our case it was a huge secret as that was back in 1956 :-k and it was a NoNo.

My wife of 45 years has stood behind me all these years. (--)

Hi Julia,
What a lovely read. I believe you are doing the right thing. Your son may be able to better understand himself. Unlike many of us growing up, we had a hard time trying to figure out who and what we were. Not untill the internet was I content to accept who and what I was. Please stay in touch and let us know if we can voice our opinions for possible help.
Hugs,
Diana

Julia, your son is lucky to have such an open minded and loving mother. I'm curious about what course of action the gender specialist suggested in dealing with your son's cross dressing? Was the person a Doctor, a psychologist or a social worker?

It was a psychologist that suggested to see a gender specialist. He still sees the Gender specialist, twice a month and I do go to a support group for parents of crossdressers

I didn't know you could be ''diagnosed'' as a crossdresser, but anyhow. Like anything, it's good that you took it on with open mind *^^*

Julia, thank you for that heartwaming post. Your son is so lucky. Most of us here grew up really struggling with this. Acceptance is just so wonderful.

How old is he, now and how is he doing?
I'm not that kind of girl.

Dear Julia,

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful story about how Kayla started dressing as a girl, and your support for her wishes.

In reading your posts, i wondered whether you think that Kayla might, indeed, be a ts rather than a crossdresser? I hope your gender specialist is well versed in the area of transsexuality in children, as well as crossdressing in children.

You are to be commended for being such a loving and understanding mother.
