Betty Ann I remember those early days of out and about and the fear of "being made" and the potential consequences that could bring. What I quickly discovered was most never noticed or didn't even pay attention. Perhaps my size helped and the fact I rarely used a wig as I have always had long hair but I was glad. Even store clerks don't really seem to care as you were a potential customer with money to spend.

As Melissa pointed out the usual dead giveaways such as too short a skirt or too chesty do usually draw attention but they do for a genetic female. Remember if your objective is to not be noticed or be thought of as a guy in drag dress according to the circumstance.
