Im sad :(

This is crazy, my parent gonna make me get a hair cut, which will make me really sad
I like my current hair cut, it look boyish, and best of all, my friend said I look cool in it. My hair is a little long, the front side can put some gel on and go to the side, it long to my eyes. I don’t want to cut it, but my parent force me too.
I have been begging them to stop this for a week and they wont let me keep my current hair cut. They just want to cut it short, which is really make me look stupid and funny. I don’t like that but they keep making me. Reply please , feeling really sad right now. Gonna get a hair cut in about 1-2 hours.

My dad had mine cut in a buzz cut when I was quite young, and I wasn't allowed to grow it out until I was 16 and finally managed to get him to change his mind.

Parents just don't always understand how something as simple as hair can help define your identity as an individual. Myself growing up, I never had long hair. I had the buzz cut, something called a flat top and eventually my hair got long enough to touch my ears. It had its advantages like never having to dry it because you could simply squeegee it and a minute later it was dry. You never had to take time to style it because there wasn't anything to style. Now that I'm older and can do anything I want with my hair -- the five I have left -- I'm back to short. Short looks better when you have no hair. Now the benefits means the wigs aren't so hot in the summer.

Since you are stuck with the do your parents are having you get, you just need to figure out how to make it your do and not theirs.

I remember arguements over hair as a teenager, also over clothing. When I was older, college, I could do as I wanted. Then I graduated and had to dress and have hair that would please my employers, and girlfriends.

It's a shame, but there are probably more important things to take a stand on.

Tiana, everyone who's answered is saying that it gets better as you get older, and I agree. What I don't know is how to tell you to deal with the feelings you have NOW.

Her attitude tends to be that teenagers do not know what is best for themselves, and she makes the decisions for them. I cannot say that this is what traditional Vietnamese parents are like everywhere; I can only say that that is how she feels about it, and your parents may share some of that feeling. They may listen to you more next year, or the year after. For now, you do need to pick your battles, as Absaroka said. Maybe this is something you will have to accept, for now.

Anita's right, a lot of folks from the old country, where ever it may be, believe that teenagers need to have their decisions made for them. A lot of Americans feel that way also, but we've gotten used to it being a struggle.

It might not be of much help, but with enough styling magic even very short hair can be extremely femionized provided you match your makeup acoordingly.
