Can we have two brides?

Hey all,
I wasn't sure if anyone's done this, but I'm considering it, so I figured that I'd ask...
We're getting married next year in a very traditional way (me: white dress, him: tux, minister, the whole nine yards). I get the impression that he feels a little left out, since I've been dress shopping with my bridesmaids and get to wear a poofy satin ballgown while he has to wear pants. (My 90 year old grandmother would have a stroke if it were the other way around)
I was toying with the idea of getting "remarried" in Vegas with him in a white dress or a bridesmaid's dress of his choosing. I asked him about it and he seemed excited about the idea, but neither of us was sure how it would be received (neither of us has ever been to Vegas).
Do you think this is a good idea? Bad idea? Stupid idea?
Thanks in advance...

Honey, if you are are serious and would go through with it I think it would be one of the nicest, most considerate "gifts" you could give. I don't know that you could find a "legitimate" "Man of the cloth" that would perform such a ceremony, but this girl thinks it is a wonderful idea, something your DH would probably cherish for the rest of "her" life! It would show a true love that you share.
Can Virginia and her SO wrangle an invitation to the "traditional" wedding?? That is unless you would not be comfortable with two addtional girls attending!!!??, ie. Virginia and her SO. Just asking! Would not want to stress out your 90 year old grandmother, but then again I can usually pass so............ well seriously, let us know - Roanoke is not that far away!
Love,
Virginia
PS: We would even consider serving as bridesmaids at the second ceremony, if asked!!!!

I'm all for it all... the Vegas wedding would be awesome! Of course, we'd have to do that part in secret, as our friends have no idea about his CDing. He was almost busted recently, though, as one of his friends noticed his perfectly arched eyebrows. I covered for him by mentioning that his hair stylist wanted to make some $$ on the side by doing his eyebrows for our engagement pictures.
I'd love to be married by Elvis and have a couple more ladies at our "real" wedding!

Heck, maybe you guys could stand up for us at the Vegas wedding!

If that's an invitation then we accept, and as for Vegas we just need an excuse to go!!!! and "what goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas!" well most of it anyway!
Love,
Virginia

Hi, Gardenia -
I think that it would be perhaps one of the most wonderful gifts you could possibly give your CD - the chance to be 'married' in a wedding dress, and you could wear your wedding dress, too, if you chose! Now that's true love and the ultimate in acceptance!!
Sounds like a win-win solution to me!!

Hi ya Gardenia,
A couple at our club 1 cd and her gg/so did what you would like to do.
They had their traditional wedding, but they also had a ceremony where Tracy the CD was the bride,Pat his partner wore a silk frock, however it was'nt white.Followed was a reception etc.
Both looked hopelessly in love and extremely happy.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!
I reckon there are a few chapels in Vegas that have performed ceremonies having a male bride.
Use Google to search
wedding chapels las vegas
Then call or email several chapels you might find interesting, and ask.

Gardenia,
I think it sounds like a great idea. That way you and he both could have the wedding you have always wanted!

Add my voice to the "Go For It" chorus. I can't imagine a nicer compliment for your hubby than that. I know I would be so touched if it were me. I doubt you'll have any problem finding a priest to marry you both. This is Vegas after all and they've seen it all!! Perhaps a divine Elvis might do the trick but whatever works for you both.
Just remember to post some pictures in the gallery once you get back. I'm sure we'd all love to see the happy bridal couple.

Hi Gardenia
As you said, you will already be legally married so worrying about someone to perform the ceremony should be unnecessary. Be it Elvis, a priest, boat captain, or poker dealer

, find a nice place and a beautiful gown for your SO and go for it!

Thanks all!
We'll probably go to Vegas with some friends, so chances are good that we won't get to have our "wedding" on our first trip.
However, I really like the idea of doing an unofficial ceremony next year. I'm going to ask him if he wants to do it, and offer to go dress shopping with him at some point. I love the idea of having Elvis as our officiant, but I wouldn't have the nerve to do that for our legal wedding.
Thanks again! You all rock.

Gardenia_SO add my name to the I think it is a good idea. As for a man of the cloth to perform the ceremony. I happen to be a ordained minister and would be willing to perform it for you after your offical ceremony. I live in California if you PM me I will discuss performing it for you.

Gardenia,
Me and Raven(SO) were married in the courthouse and we both wore skirts. Because we could not afford a real wedding then, we have decided we are going to take a trip to Vegas and get married again. With her in a wedding dress and me in a wedding dress. Just for us, just so we can have the experience, as well as the picture. I know your situation is much different than mine and Raven's, as I am transsexual and live fulltime as a woman.
I can think of nothing you could do that would show your love more than what you are proposing. I think this is extremely kind and loving of you to agree to do this and says so much about just exactly the kind of person you are. Good luck to you in both your weddings.
Love always,
Elizabeth
