Hi girls, I've been watching this forum for a couple of weeks and like the care and clean fun. Down under in my case means New Zealand, made more known in recent years by Peter Jackson and Lord of the Rings. I've joined because we don't have anything quite like this close to home and I love to make friends in other parts of the world. Lots of love - Jacqui

Welcome

Hi Jacqui
Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find everything here from The Shire to Mount Doom. The best thing is that most of us are as welcoming and friendly as any Hobbit you'll ever meet. So is it true that all good New Zealanders have furry feet?

Jacqui,
Don't listen to quips about furry feet! We all know better, the air is a lot thinner up here anyway! Hope you can stay and participate!

You beautiful ladies know how to make a girl feel welcome - thank you all.
Stephanie - actually the stereotype of a New Zealander (Kiwi) used to be a guy in black gumboots and black singlet getting around with a sheepdog in tow. After hours he drinks enough beer to create a big pot belly. Enough to make anyone want to dress like a woman - well I don't need much of an excuse. Fortunately we are changing our image somewhat
As I browsed through some of the topics I always had to pause at your posts Virginia and usually to smile if not break out in laughter. Not because they are frivilous but I love just love your honest out of the box thinking and humor that simplifies life and makes it a bit more fun! Great to make contact with you!
I'll post on other topics from now on. Please be tolerant of my Kiwi form of English - just as well you can't hear my accent!
Luv - Jacqui

Hi Jacqui,
Welcome to this delightful and erudite group.
New Zealand !!! It brings back many fond memories. I spent a couple of months in Christchurch, lecturing at Canterbury Univ. I vowed that if I ever emigrated to another country, it would be New Zealand. While there, we drove all over in our rented mini. Fantastic country !!
Hugs,
Lydia

Hi Jacqui,
I'll join my sisters in wishing you a warm welcome to the forum. I fell in love with New Zealand when I watched the 30+ hours of bonus material that came with the boxed set of
The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. The countryside is gorgeous, the vistas awe-inspiring, and New-Zealanders seem like a totally friendly crowd.
Just over twenty years ago, when Marie and I first hitchhiked across Canada (a 10-week journey), we met a couple of Kiwi travellers at the Toronto Youth Hostel. I'll always remember them (even though I've now forgotten their names) because we got into a bit of a row with them one fine afternoon. All four of us had decided to visit the Royal Ontario Museum and our two foreign friends were very eager to see the Spice section of the museum. I tried to make them understand that there
was no Spice section there, whereas they kept countering that there was. Eventually, we found a pamphlet for the ROM at the Youth Hostel's front desk. Turns out everyone was right and nobody was wrong: what our friends referred to as the Spice section was actually the Space section, which did, indeed, exist. The accent had thrown us off, is all. (We had a "blast" at the Museum, by the way!)
Again, welcome aboard, Jacqui.
Love,
CJ

New Zealand is a great place for a holiday. If anyone is thinking of it I would love to treat any of my sisters (and SOs) to a special time!
