I am so glad to have discovered your group!
I have been "out" on the Internet about two months, and until tonight, my favorite group was one based in the UK. While the ladies there are just wonderful, there is a bit of a language barrier (The Queen's English - isn't she?), and I can't realistically hope to ever experience firsthand the places they like to go.
I have been "different" since 1966, and am just thrilled to know I am not alone anymore.
Still, Kanas is sometimes not a very friendly place to be one's self. I told my wife long before we wed in 1976, but at this stage she is merely tolerant. :|
Does it bother the rest of you that Gays and Lesbians get more respect than we do, and/or that they do not support our right to be different? Are we the last repressed minority? What can we as a group do to improve our public image and get some tolerance if not respect?
In due time I will post a pic, though I can't compete with the younger (or lighter) ladies. Perhaps that is not the point. The point is to put a friendly face on our communications, and to remind ourselves of our common ground?
Hugs!

Hi Bernice,
Welcome to the forum!

Wow, a first post and you already have much on your mind. Excellent!
There's already some discussion going on about the "T" in "GLBT." Check out this link:

We also have our own resident political analyst in Alexandra. (Sorry, Lexie, the temptation was too great. I'm so weak.

)
Bernice, by "lighter" ladies, did you mean lighter-skinned? As you'll soon discover, the only colour that matters here is the colour of your mind or the colour of your heart.
Have fun in the forum, girl!
Love,
CJ

Hey Girl,
The word of the day is unconditional acceptance. (okay, that's two words, who cares!) That's what you'll find here. There are many topics to participate in, or start something new. It's a great place to be.
Talk atcha later.
Hugs,
Kyra
BTW - Great first post!

Bernice,
Hi and

to the forum. I noticed you're from Kansas! My mom was born in Parsons and grew up in Lawrence. She is a KU fanatic. Jayhawkers EVERYWHERE!!
Your post was great! We love a little spice around here. Can't wait to hear more from you.
XOXO, Amber

Hmmm, Bernice. Northeast Kansas...that wouldn't - by chance - be near Leavenworth, Lansing, Kansas City Metropolitan area, Atchison, Easton...ugh, my memory fades.
Umm, originally from Leavenworth here, sweety.
Hugs.

Jayhawkers? What are Jayhawkers? Sounds a mite ominous to me...

Thanks too all of you ladies. I do feel like I have just arrived "home".
For those of you who want to confirm your mastery of local geography, yes, this is definitely Jayhawk Territory. Big yellow and blue bird with red lettering, and warning others to "Beware the Phog". Minor footnote: the University also fields a football team. However, since I was never much interested in sports, this is something of a curse for me. My wife had a business not far from a bar, and on sporting event weekends, it was not unusual to have drunks break her windows.
Also, NE kansas does include Kansas City, Leavenworth, Lawrence, Lecompton, Olathe, Topeka, Ottawa, and others.
From what I see, our forum is not so little, and has active, eloquent, and attractive participants to be proud to know.
Javascript errors? Possibly due to my clinging to a P2/450 and Win 98. Going through tough economic times right now, also clinging to a dialup ISP. Or possibly I just should not have tried Drag and Drop on the smileys?
Hugs to all!
Bernice

Hi Bernice! Yes, it DOES bother me, but unfortunately lot of the blame has to be placed on us.
As CJ pointed out, we have several threads on this topic but I'd like to mention that sometimes the only thing gay people and TG/CD people truly have in common is that both groups are likely to get beat up by the same people -- this makes for an uneasy alliance. We'd do better if we could speak for ourselves -- but we've a long way to go -- IMO we need to get get our house in order first.
"last repressed minority?" Could be.
