Archeology and a tutu

British born surveyor and archaeologist named Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie is often called the "father of modern archaeology." He was the first surveyor to make accurate measurements of the pyramids on the Giza Plateau. He didn't carry a whip or wear a fedora while working on the plateau; instead he surveyed while wearing a ballerina's tutu!
