Newsman Who Decided To Become A Woman Has Changed His Mind

Back then, Ennis, 49, wrote to his colleagues: “This is not a game of dress-up, or make-believe. It is my affirmation of who I now am and what I must do to be happy, in response to a soul-crushing secret that my wife and I have been dealing with for more than seven years, mostly in secret.” But late last week, in an email to colleagues, Ennis revealed that a two-day bout with “transient global amnesia” has revealed to him that he is not actually transgender.

Hi Donna--
I'm glad you posted this, but it's not because I think it's a positive development. I see it as a big set-back for the community. It reinforces the idea that trans people chose to be this way, and that they can just as easily choose to go back to their birth gender. My girlfriend's family will seize on articles like this one, because it confirms what they want to believe about gender identification. Any day now, they expect LeeAnne to just get tired of fighting to be accepted as a woman. It was all a game that she's been playing, and she'll "see the light," and go back to being male.

That said, Mr. Ennis has the right to publicize his choices, and I have to respect that right.

Christina is doing very well with her transition, by comparison, being a sports writer.
