Here it is! I knew I had seen this somewhere before, and I thought it was posted here. I watched a documentary on Discovery Health this morning about FtM transsexuals. At the end was a discussion about the scientific community's thoughts about transgender behavior in general, and the subject of the brain scans was brought up. They mentioned that the results were considered to be somewhat tainted, as all of the trans subjects studied were already taking hormones at the time they were scanned. It is thought that hormone usage affects brain chemistry, such that a male who takes estrogen would exhibit feminine characteristics as a matter of course. I don't know that this completely invalidates the research, but it certainly adds to the debate.

Unfortunately, these scans are all of cadavers too, 'cause the area has to be stained for viewing! In order to test the theory of the tainted evidence, they'd need an pre op and pre HRT, avowed transsexual cadaver to compare. Could be kinda hard to find volunteers, don'cha think?

Uh, I'd volunteer, but alas they don't have a microscope that would be able to detect the faintest sign of a brain - at least that is how I feel sometimes. I think that we all agree that we do have a "gift" it will just take medical science and society a while to catch up to us.

Hi girls,

To me that debate is somewhat academic because I already know we are different.

For those who beleive we are sex obssessed perverts, all the scientific evidence in the world will not be enough and for those who understand we are what we are, it is not necessary. Those who can be taught, will be, but brain science won't be the deciding factor, imho. It will be a realization that we are all different in many ways.
