I was at my daughters for Thanksgiving today. She is 52 YO and has the looks and figure of a 17 YO girl. I complemented her on her looks knowing that she is a physical fitness fanatic. She had just finnished two hours at a gym that is called "Boot Camp" then did a 3 mile run got into her car and drove home and did 4 1/2 minute exercize called planking. All this before showering and getting ready for company at 12:30. She is a carreer woman and goes to Boot Camp at 6 in the morning 3 times a week before work at 9:00 am. No! her name is not Wonder Woman.

This exercise called Planking is illustrated in the pictures at this link http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=pla ... ORM=IQFRML" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; These positions are held for verious time spans and can result in slimming of the abdomen an developement of the pectorials as well as slimming the front of the calf. It is reccommended that they start of with two days of 15 seconds and work up every two days by 15 seconds till you have reached whatever goal you desire. She started at 3 minutes and 15 seconds. I guess she was in pretty good shape to begin.

I think this might be fun for some of us to start this and compare results from time to time.

Not recommended for those with bad lower backs.

I just started my plank routine. Did two fifteen second planks on my elbows. It wasn't hard but I could feel some pulling. I choose the elbow position because I knew that the full arm position would be harder. I'll go from here and increase by double each two days.

Try it. *-*

Got up to 2 minutes. This is tougher than it looks. I can feel my muscles tightening and there is some lite "pain" in my lower abdomin while I am doing it. Still only on elbowes.
I hope it gets rid of the male stomach.

I wish you luck with planking as an exercise. It's not for me, though.

My favorite type is classic yoga, with an emphasis on core strength. It's easy to learn, requires no equipment, and not harmful (unless you try "hot" yoga - Bikram). It's a thousand-year-old regimen that uses your body's own weight to stretch, strengthen, and improve balance.

I discovered planking a while back while looking for waist sliming exercises. Did it intermittently until your post, which inspired me to be more diligent in working it into my daily routine.

Not quiet there on the routine part but better. Averaging twice a day now at about 1/2 minuet.

Staying at elbow as I am not interested in increasing muscle definition or mass on shoulder.
