In the past five and a half years that I have been living 90% of the time as a woman, I have been in hundreds of women's restrooms. Now since I pass I have never been challenged and am always accepted as a woman. So no, I've never had a problem. But in all that time I have never seen anything in the restroom that could not be seen in public. They go into a stall do their business and come out fully dressed and presentable.
So if men were dressing as women and going in there expecting to see women in all manner of dress they would be very disappointed.
If I were to use the restroom that conforms to my biological sex, that would not only cause quite a stir it would also threaten my well being. It would also out me to my friends that don't know I'm a guy.

Donna....That's awful I've read a few other instances were CIS gendered women have been tased, beaten and embarrassed by the police and not to mention sheriffs that threaten bodily harm to trans folks. Some of the awful comments by judges, governors and on Facebook. Folks of all persuasions need to be very careful and afraid. It has turned into a real witch hunt just like the Salem trials and Sen. McCarthy's hearings back in the 50's hunting for Communists. Florida has been pretty quiet so far and Tampa and St. Pete are LGBT friendly but it doesn't hurt to be careful.

The bathroom police are still at it I see! Guess we need to carry a birth certificate with us at all times. Somewhat reminds me of some yo-yo's idea of the "National ID Card" a few years back as a way of identifying "real" Americans from illegal immigrants.
I agree with Carolyn in that going into a men's room dressed in women's clothes regardless of how well one "passes" is a recipe for disaster. If you think the stares and barbs tossed at the transgender community are bad in public, can you imagine what would take place in a confined space such as a mall bathroom? I can and believe me it is not a pretty picture.
All of this such as the North Carolina raises an interesting question. Perhaps our resident legal eagle Donna can help with it. As all of you know the North Carolina law specifies that one must use the restroom of the genetic gender. Where does that leave post-ops such as me? Does that mean that even though my drivers license, passport, and birth certificate state me as female but was born male am I a male in the eyes of the uninformed Tar Heel state?

Diana, if your birth certificate says female, then you are good to go. Of course there is no legal requirement to carry a birth certificate, so the gender police should accept your legally issue government ID.

Thanks for the opinion Donna. In reality I would be insulted if anyone would challenge my using a ladies restroom or for that matter anyone appropriately attired. For my personal situation I am and always have been female however if memory serves me correctly the NC law talks about genetic gender. If one were to stretch it my genetic gender is male regardless of my physical and internal gender being female. Maybe I need to take a trip to North Carolina and become a test case for this law. NOT!!

Now that women seem to be dressing more for comfort and sans makeup many could be mistakenly questioned or assaulted. FTM I think are fairly safe in the men's restroom. It is also my opinion that we(or most of us) take pains to look and feel fem when we are out and are probably safe unless asked for ID.

News that most in the LSM (lame-stream media) will not report because it does not fit their agenda, and a comment from that article which was shared on FaceBook. The comment was not mine, but I fully agree with it!
FB Comment: "First of all
this law was aimed at perverts and pedophiles not transgenders that have been using the restroom without incident for years. When lying POS transgenders get involved for their hopes at a lawsuit they become part of the problem. She should be sued for making a false claims against the business." [Emphasis added by SL]

In the more than 15 years that I have been actively out in public I have never had any problems when using the ladies' room.

1) The article refers to a transgender woman as "him".
2) Despite her assertion that she was "embarrassed" and "outed" the woman's body language on leaving the restroom is confident and easy.

I have never had a problem or even looked at when in a ladies room
I am 6'2 and try to blend and look as ladylike as I can
I think the problem occurs when throw on a dress and walk in and
it is obvious it is a man in a dress.
