First the governement is going to remind everyone of the law. They will do some educating and given time they just might take legal actions. This is goes along with the first step, https://content.govdelivery.com/account ... ns/146d151 -- their reminder.

Dept of Justice gave NC until Monday to respond to them. In the wake of DOJ's actions, at least one city revoked their bathroom law. Gee I wonder why.

On a different but related note about equality... I Googled trans-friendly businesses, https://www.google.com/search?q=trans-f ... 8&oe=utf-8. Two sites/pages caught my eye: Go thru the Google search and feel better about life and feel some pity for the haters and the ignorant.

NC is also filing suit against the fed. government.

There are already a few cases holding that discrimination based on gender identity is discrimination based on sex, a violation of the civil rights act.

Irony. Once again the ninth and tenth amendments are being disregarded; but I am cheering for it.

Going to have to contemplate that one for a while.

What does "transgendered" mean? If a man wears an earring in the left ear, is he a she? What about two earrings? Is he now gay? If a woman has short hair and wears her husband's flannel shirt while going to Mickey D's does she now have to use the men's room? Sometimes people hide a zit with makeup. Is that dressing female? What about clear nail polish? What about red?
Who gets to draw the line on which restroom to use? Is it all about what the most intolerant fussy regimentarian control freak thinks? Some people have been mistaken for the incorrect gender without "wrong sex" clothing, or anything. If some busybody wants to check the shorts to verify the plumbing, does he/she need a warrant? Why am I asking you?

And to get off on a tangent just for a sec..... How do you define male and female sexes for the purpose of some of those marriage laws? You have male, female, and intersexed. Does the intersexed person get to marry either? Neither? If you go with the chromosomes then you have XX, XY, XXY and YYX.

Okay, back to your question Martina. The Federal guidance said, ""Transgender" refers to people whose gender identity and/or expression is different from the sex assigned to them at birth (e.g. the sex listed on an original birth certificate)." One could infer from this that the transgender person self declares. Why would anyone else declare another person as transgender unless maybe a doctor would? For example, why would I tell people my friend is transgender unless my friend first said he or she was?

Still not really clear to me where transvestite ends and transgender begins.

I could be wrong, but I think the line is crossed when you start seriously imagining life without having the wrong genitals, and embrace fantasies about heterosexual sex after transition.

Only 0.3% of the population has transitioned, according to several sources. They don't address how many wish they could.

Hugs,
