On the lighter side.

Post by Loretta Ann »

I overheard a teacher reciting this old poem to some of her students -"Sticks and snails and puppy dog tails; that's what little boys are made of. Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of". I immediately thought to myself, "Gee, is it any wonder that some of us want to be a woman?"

I hope you get a chuckle out of this like I did

Darlene,

100% correct. I never wanted to be made of snails or puppy dogs tails, I always thought that was a bit unfair when I was a kid. :(

It never cut much ice with me saying 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but words they cannot hurt me' [-(

When I was in my first school year about 5 yrs old, I used to sit and daydream about being made of chocolates and nice things.

Your'e right, it actually did influence me

Love

You know Sis, some of those old nursy rhymes were rather strange once you become older and take the time to reread them. I know that some "do gooders" have tried to ban some of them. Remember this one:
As I was going to St. Ives, I met a man with seven wives, each wife had seven sacks, each sack had seven cats, each cat had seven kittens. Cats, kittens, sacks and wives how many were going to St. Ives? I did not even have a computer back then! Seven wives??? and were is PETA when they are needed??
Love ya,
Virginia

Hi Virginia!!!! :) Like your new name. It is the same as a sweet lady that passed on just last month after a long struggle with MS, and she remained a lady to the last! Good choice!

As for PETA, wasn't that the name of one of the kittens in the bag?
