Chosen names and avatars.

================

Corporations go through a great deal to get a good name for a
product. Businesses know the difference a good name makes.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam's job was naming things.
It was the first Biblical occupation of man - Naming Things.

It could well be called, "The world's oldest profession."
It is still a job we all have.

We don't choose our birth names, our parents do.
We do choose our email names. Our email name can go around the
world faster than the speed of thought.

Our email name often reflects what we think of ourselves.

Some of you reading this may need to change your name.

As I read some of our adopted names, I often say,
"this person is calling negative things upon themselves
because they are calling themselves something negative
and sending it all over the world."

We can't blame anyone else for our adopted name, we chose it.

Did you ever wonder why successful entertainers often change
their names? You don't know most of the movie star's birth
names, you only know their changed names.

They chose a new name because they wanted something different
out of life.

Look at your email or forum name.

What does it say about you?

What are you calling yourself?
What are you calling upon yourself?
Is it something or someone that you want to be?
Is it somewhere you want to go?

Maybe your email name is neutral, but maybe it is not.

Here are seven examples of email names that don't reflect good
things or destinations for the owner: booboo@, hardtimes@,
maddog@, devilwoman@, got_no_money@, sickpuppy@, and nightmare@.

That literally call out bad things. Each time that you hit "SEND," maybe
you are sending to more than just the recipient.

Do you ever think, "maybe I am sending out into the world
vibration and spirit saying, 'this is whom I call myself,'
respond to me accordingly."

Look at your email name, the name YOU have chosen.

Remember an email name is an address.
It reflects your habitation and destination.

Where do you live?

That's true on more than one level.

Look at your email name, the name you have chosen,
your cyberspace habitation and destination.

I personally feel the same could be true about our Avatars,
some of them make me cringe. Is that truly the way you
want us or the world to see you?

As Microsoft's slogan says,

"Where do you want to go today?"

I have chosen my name as I would have chosen it. (if I would have been given that chance when I was born). :)

And when I found the Avatar, I just fell in love with it.

I was just lucky that the name wasn't already taken. =D>
Lovin' every minute of it!

My username is my other name in the real world. I have many friends that when I am around them I do not respond to my birthname. As for my avatar is it a symbol I drew in High School one day and it has become a symbol for me. It is a symbol for power and strength in many cultures. The colors are also important to me for my own reasons.

I see nothing wrong with them Lorna,

I read some where in one of your posts how you came up with the name of Lorna, but I'm not sure what your picture in your mind is of Lorna, not that I need to.

I have noticed there are some of us who do not like being male, and I wonder if that has any bearing on us?

Okay (I don't mind sharing) but my picture in my mind of Lorna is exactly what everyone sees in my avatar (okay, maybe a few pounds thinner, but who doesn't want to be thinner?) The picture in my mind is also reflected in my posts: a down to earth girl who's not afraid to express her true feelings.

The bottom line is this: what I think of myself is by far more important than what others think of me. Point blank. And I pledge to live by that on up until the day I die.

Af far as those of us who do not like being male, yes there will be a percentage of us who fall into that category. I just feel that everyone has the right to be happy.

Lorna that is good input, and something we should all listen to. When that picture is not healthy, that is when I think we may be headed for disaster.
