Morning Walk
I walk through the woods
On a fresh dew kissed morn
Surrounded by serenity
I gaze at the splendor all around
Towering Maple, Elm, Oak
Lilacs and honesuckles
Splash color amongst the green
Giant ferns so amazing to behold
Wildflowers poke up their heads
From beneath the fallen leaves
I gaze at the splendor all around
Surrounded by serenity
On a fresh dew kissed morn

Towering Maple, Elm, Oak
Lilacs and honesuckles
Splash color amongst the green

Wildflowers poke up their heads
From beneath the fallen leaves
I gaze at the splendor all around
Surrounded by serenity
Blessings Eternal, Jassmine

Once upon a time I was an archer, i.e., bowhunter by avocation. One morning, it was very foggy as I tipped -toed down a logging trail I was vaguely familiar with. I came to a fork in the trail where a hugh Oak Tree resided. I leaned against the tree to wait for the fog to lift as I could not see five yards in front or anywhere around me. As I stood there contemplating the absolute silence of the wood, I began to hear a slight crunching noise- the dispursement of sound in the fog??? From which direction was it coming? what was it? a squirrel, another slayer, a bear, just the dew falling? I finally decided it was coming from down the trail, past the oak I was holding up. Holding my bow behind me, I ever so stealthily eased my face around the tree closer and closer to a view down the trail -immediately I was nose to nose with the noise maker, a big beautiful, blonde colored doe - our noses were less than two inches apart. Behind her were five other ladies, all had frozen in their tracks awaiting their leader's reaction. What seemed like minutes but only seconds, we stared into each others eyes, then in a move only a deer can produce all six of them seemed to vanish and in almost total silence!
I have not gone bowhunting since! What an experience!
