A chat with Chesire( a creative-cat)

" imagination is more important than knowledge"
--Albert Einstein

The Following are excerpts from

" The Artist's Way"

by Julia Cameron

it's about " recovering" the creative part of us that we are all gifted with,

it talks from the perspective of one who had left this part lie dormant for years and years:

" ...( when we) begin to excavate our buried dreams, this is a tricky process. Some of our dreams are very volatile, and the mere act of brushing them off sends an enormous surge of energy bolting through our denial system. Such a grief! Such a loss! Such pain!"( at having ignored this part for so long)
-----------------------------------

It is at this point in the recovery process that we make what Robert Bly calls a " desent into the ashes". We mourn the self we abandoned. We greet this old self as we might greet a lover at the end of a long and costly war...
-----------------------------------

To effect a creative recovery, we sometimes undergo a period of mourning

(as this forgotten part of us is reconnected with).

Our tears prepare the ground for our future growth...

*stop telling yourself it's too late

*stop waiting until you make enough $ to do something you truly love

* Stop telling yourself it's -just your ego- whenever you yearn for a more creative life

* Stop telling yourself that dreams don't matter---that you should be more sensible

*Stop fearing your friends and family would think you crazy

*stop telling yourself that creativity is a luxury

8) THat's all for now!

Thanks to the Chesire Cat for keeping my eye on the sparkles!

Hi Jassmine!

I do appreciate your wonderful creativity!

I can't imagine you any other way.

I wonder if you have any ideas on staying inspired?

( I thought this Chesire Cat thread could become a place to share these kind of thoughts!)

Hi Tea Cake ..o)..

Why thank you

Ah, that is one of the worst things about being depressed, you lose all interest in things that once brought you joy. I actually had no idea how "lost" I had become until I started on my journey back.

For me beauty is a great inspiration :) I also think that laughter stimulates the creative juices. I have also found inspiration in sorrow. People, especially children, and my critters are always a great source of inspiration for me as well :)

Hi Jassmine,

I know just what you mean about a journey back,---I hate the energy-drain of depression.

I feel really LUCKY lately that things seem happy

sometimes I feel like making things from imagination is like a float-coat on a chilly-lake!

---I'm not going to take it off no matter how calm it seems!

Here is an invented story about:

The bird's who forgot to fly!

Long ago near a steep and rocky cliff--was a thick and deeply green forest.Inside this deeply green forest was a village of people who worked hard the whole day through.

Their work was to stroll through the forest and collect black mushrooms and wild-berry fungi. These
delectable delights they would trade with the nobels of next Autumn's King( who otherwise ate only porridge).

(The king was rather vain and always seemed to be thinking of the future---ONLY the future---so he was known as Next Autumn's King) The nobels were actually the same---thinking always of the future, they had NO IDEA___that noone was the KIng of Autumn Right Now!!! ( or they would have probably run each other over trying to fill that title! had they only known.)

The villagers had no care for this or next Autumn for they lived a happy life strolling deep in the woods gathering their wild-grown delectables.

Now you do remember the cliffs ?---the steep and rocky
cliffs were full of bird's nests.
The birds themselves were strong and agile and their wing spans were sturdy enough to fly in the strongest of gales...but the funny thing was these birds hardly ever flew( when left to their own devices).
You see, flying to them came so easily that they sometimes forgot what a brilliant gift they had.

Now the villagers were an old fashioned lot--and did not make their children work all the day( if you can call their strolling around the forest with light wicker baskets working!)
So their children would play lots of games and invent names, and pretend to be flames and...welll you get
the idea...they had imagination!

And when they wished, they WISHED! and when they laughed, they LAUGHED! And when they played, they really really PLAYED with all their hearts.

Up on the cliffs the birds would watch the children of the village play and remember to fly---they would soar with delight as the children ran round and round---circle and flit and soar and flap.

Without the village the birds would be too bored to remember to fly---and without the steady supply of
wild-treats---Next Autumn's king and Next Autumn's nobels would live on very bland fare---

So as you can see, this village in the deeply green forest had plenty to share with their little nook!

I hope you have lots of time in that deeply green wood!

:) :) :) ---------all the best!
