He buttonholed the foreman, and said, "I got to ask you. How come my buddy and me are workin for you instead of the other way around? I remember you from school, and you were at least three years younger than us, and we been buildin houses more!"
The boss just smiled and replied, "Its all a matter of intelligence."
Flunke says, "How so? What do you mean"?
Boss says, "I'll illustrate. Put your hand on the tree and hold it there while I hit it as hard as I can."
Flunke complies, and the boss hit his hand just as hard as he could. Flunke jumped around a bit shaking his hand and going "Owww , Owww, Owww".
The boss says, "OK, now you hit my hand," and places his hand on the tree. The Flunke winds up and throws a haymaker at the bosses hand, who moves it away at the last minute and Flunke hits the tree--hard-- and started dancing around hollarin and shaking both hands.
The boss looks at him and says with a grin, "Now that's intelligence". Flunke still didn't get but didn't want to show his ignorance, so he says "OK" and goes back to Buddy, still shaking his hands.
His buddy asks, "What did he say?" Flunke says, "Well he said it was a matter of intelligence."
"What's that?"
"I'll show you," says Flunkie with a smirk. Not finding a tree, he puts his hand over his face, and says,
"Now hit my hand as hard as you can!"
