Medicare snafu?

Post by Carolynn »

Mrs. Dennis was sitting home happily clipping coupons when she heard the phone ring. Answering, the voice on the other end said "Mrs. Dennis, this is Dr. Shepard, your husbands physician. As you know, you huband left a blood sample for analysis last week, but though the results are in, it may be very bad or even worse."

She says, "I don't understand Dr. How could that be?"

"As I started to explain", says the Doc, there was another man with the same man in the same day, and also left a blood sample. Due to a lab accident, we don't know which sample was your husbands."

"The bad part is, is that your husband either has alzhiemers, or he has HIV".

The wife is thunderstruck, and stammers, "W-w-well, can't you rerun the blood test?"

The Dr. says, "Well, you know they are both on medicare, and they only allow us to run those tests once an enrollment period, so no, we can't do them again."

She says, "B-but, what do I dooooo?"

"I knew you were going to ask that question, Mrs. Dennis, so I asked the case worker at the Medicare office. The best they could do was suggest you drop your husband off in the middle of the city", says the Doc. "Then, if he makes his way home, don't sleep with him."
"It’s not given to anyone to have no regrets; only to decide, through the choices we make, which regrets we’ll have,"
