Change of the Season

Post by Diana Michelle »

There is a bit of a nip in the air up here in the great white northern parts of Michigan and the trees are just starting to show a tinge of color. In other words fall is here. This is perhaps my favorite of the 4 sasons as the colors make it beautiful and Christmas is not far away. :)

What is your favorite time of the year and why? I know for a lot of the girls here it has to do with clothes and the ability to get out but I'm looking for more of a non gender or dressing answer. As I said the colors and the nip in the air and of course my Wolverines playing football again, thank you Jim Harbaugh *-* , make fall my favorite. So what's yours?

I prefer the cool seasons, spring and fall. I like having seasons in general. Even when we have the really cold days, they are ok, but I want snow when we get enough cold long enough. I just don't need the extreme heat of extreme cold for very long. Sounds like everyone else huh?

With the cooler weather, I get to experience more outdoors and that's what I like. I don't have to do anything; just be out in it.

I really enjoy the fall, the cooler temps after the hot summer and not freezing temps of winter. It just seems like such a pleasant more laid back time of the year.

We just got back from a week at our place in Colorado. The changing colors of the Aspen trees, it seemed like they were changing color as you watched you, contrasting with the dark green of the pines is just so beautiful. When we got there the pin oaks leaves were still green and in a day or two they too had taken on fall colors and were changing rapidly. To me that's just so wonderful. (maybe that's just the woman in me I don't know )

I reckon Spring is my favorite. Not too cold or too hot.

But there can be something annoying about each season.
Shoveling snow in the winter
Hayfever in the Spring
Too hot and sunburns in the summer
falling leaves in the fall.

My yard, in Northern Virginia, already needs to be raked.

Oh gosh I am a spring girl as everything is starting to turn green again after the long winter dead as I call it.
Like you fall is here again and there is a lot of wood to be split ..|/- , I enjoy sitting in front of a nice warm fire during the winter.

I suppose I'd have to say Spring, that moment when flowers start to bud and there's a suggestion of so much more. I'm a September birthday person and I love the sky going royal blue at 7PM.

I'm happiest when the day is longer than the night.

I rejoice the spring equinox, June is wonderful; nothing more uplifting than leaving a ballgame and it is still twilight.

I morn the fall equinox (which just happened). It won't be long now before it is dark when I arise for the day, and dark long before supper. Ugg.

You are so right Donna but there is something nice about each season as well.

Spring brings the flowers and grass back to life and the world books its way out of the winter doldrums.
Summer brings warm nights and picnics and afternoons in the park and of course tan lines! :)
Fall brings the colors of the changing leaves and fun excursions like cider mills, etc.
Winter brings that first virginal white snowfall and the smiles to the children as they race to the park and sledding hills.

Personally I have always loved spring and the renewal, especially after seeing mountains of dirty snow in parking lots and walking through the slush but fall is a close second. I do have to agree with Davita that having seasons is fun and with each the opportunity for adventures.

Spring as it sheds the cold of winter passed. Fall, as you call it (autumn here) as it is still warm enough to enjoy the clear and fine days.

I'm definitely an autumn-winter person. I adore the autumn as it brings chill nights and mornings with dew laden cobwebs sparkling in the crisp morning air your breath as great clouds of steam hangs in the air,the trees changing colour as they prepare for their winter sleep. Nights closing in means pleasant evening by the glow of a nice open fire. Sometimes I take my camp firebox out to the patio and make a nice wood fire there and we just sit by it enjoying the dancing flames and the warmth under clear starry skies. Autumn heralds winter my second favourite season.

Autumn is almost here so yep, I'm a happy camper. :)

I can't choose. I like them all. I think the distinct changes in the seasons is one of the main reasons I live in New England. I have moved away several times,
but I always come back. It's that and the smaller scale of the place. The mountains the ocean and the city all within a days drive. It's the place for me.

The leaves are turning now, and it is still warm outside. I'm lovin' it!

Has to be spring as the trees bud and the flowers bloom renewing the cycle of life after a cloistered winter.

Yes Donna I too have hay fever and sometimes suffer miserably so the sights are taken in through the window. :(

It's been a nice fall up here but that is about to change. Tomorrow the high is predicted to be 38 and they are even talking of snow! I have always said the thing about here in Michigan is if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes, it will change. Now where did I put my sweater tights and boots when I packed them up in the spring? #-o

The Solstice is behind us. It is now officially winter (in the northern hemisphere, anyway). More importantly, more daylight each day than the day before. Ahhhhh.
