Wife's new car

Post by Debbie Jean »

Bought a new car last week, a 2016 Chevy Equinox. I traded in the old car, a 2002 Saturn "L" series. That was the first time in my life that I bought a new car when there was absolutely nothing wrong with the old one. The old one had almost 150,000 on it (no rust--unusual for Minnesota), and could have gone 100,000 more. I really wanted the Chevy Traverse which was a little bigger than the Equinox, but my wife sat in it and exclaimed: "I can't drive this big truck". Oh well. To me however a "big truck" means an 18-wheeler. All in what you're used to I guess.

So why did I do such a silly thing? Fair question. My wife had recent back surgery, so we needed a car with more room so we could transport walkers, wheel chairs and all other essential items associated with her mobility issues. Her prognosis doesn't look good now, however being the eternal optimists that we are, we still hope for full recovery and return to normalcy.

thank you for reading,
Deb

Congrats on the new car. The new gizmos and new technology to improve the ride will make you glad you updated. Yeah, hope the better half gets back to some level close to her old self, but be happy whatever the new normalcy is as long as she is somewhat mobile and not in pain. Mobility is everything and the new car will certainly help in the long run.

Congrats on the new Car, and i hope that you will like it
I have a 2016 Equinox, handles beautifully on the road and the ride is amazing. This is the second Equinox i have had. Take it easy and i can get 34 miles to the gallon on it, the best of any car that i have had.
I find lots of room in it and it should serve you well to take the equipment with you that you need
Sorry that your wife is to the position where she need assistance equip, but I well know what she is going through and i do need that kind of equipment at times too.

Congrats on the new wheels! When Wife trashed her right shoulder a few years back, we traded a perfectly good Forester in on an Outback because wife would probably never drive a "stick" again. This year, we updated to a new Outback with Eyesight, rear cross traffic alert, and blind spot detection because of worsening arthritis in her neck. It's not always a case of keeping up with technology, sometimes it's just keeping up with failing bodies....

Congratulations, Deb. I don't own an Equinox, but I have had several occasions to drive one, during very bad weather and slippery driving conditions, and I found it to be very confidence inspiring. The all wheel drive is as good as any I have ever driven.

I do so hope that your wife recovers fully and that you both get back to your 'normal'.

I am glad you like your knew 'wheels' a few years ago we were looking for a new car and I thought the equinox would be perfect for us. My wife however drove one and didn't like it because of the console in the middle between the front seats. Next thing I knew were getting an Impala. She loves her Impala but I would much rather of had the equinox. I wish the best of luck with it. I have a friend who got one used three years ago and it now has 169000 miles on it and still runs perfectly.
