Cindy, one of the things about portability is that one actually has to take it with you to be useful . . . even though my other laptop was "smallish" it got left home a lot to the point where is sat unused for years! I'm hoping this size works for me cuz I need to be able to take more work with me.

But you're right, people looking for a desktop replacement won't be looking at this thing!

I think your patience will pay off for you. My view of waiting until the tax holiday is that you can use the money that you would have to pay in tax for more computer power in whatever form makes the most sense for you - bigger hard drive, more Ram, etc. My junkpile refugee laptop has a touchpad that I don't like, so I use an optical mouse when I can.

Knowing your needs should really pay off for you - I looked at the link you provided and that's certainly a small computer. I certainly wouldn't like it as my only computer - I like digging around inside a tower case, being able to temporarily install another hard drive to recover data from it when needed, also to test parts, etc.
