Heavy and persistent rain is likely to extend north and west across many eastern, central and some northern parts of England, along with much of Wales on Friday. Some of this heavier rain may clip the southeastern corner of Northern Ireland, where conditions are especially saturated. Note that the updated Amber area has been extended further west across Wales in recognition of latest ideas.

The public should be prepared for the possibility of surface water flooding, particularly within the Amber area, where there is an increasing likelihood of river flooding, disruption to travel and outdoor activities. The rain across central England, East Anglia and southeast England should ease later in the day.
