TGEA Gala

Well, it was another fun evening out. I enjoyed seeing SL, Virginia and SharonRose again. The swing band/orchestra was great, and loud for a closed room.

We may get a few new members on the forum, thanks to SL's promotion of the site.

SL has been wanting to meet my wife for a while, but she had midnight's again this weekend.

This morning, when headed out to the car with our luggage, SL was by the door. She didn't no me in drab from Adam. So, she was surprised when I introduced my wife to her.

Hi Kimberly,

No, Donna is Donna and a very pretty girl when she is dressed up but like a lot of us we kinda look like the proverbial Neandertal when not "looking our best!" (Not that Donna looks like a Neandertal when not dressed  ) Now, Virginia???!! that's another story  .

As Donna said the party was great, saw several old friends, met some new ones and had a great time. Some of you may not be into the "Big Band" sounds, but me, I love it and the 15 member "DC Swing Band" was very good, however, they could use a vocalist (no offense if "he" is reading this, but, honey, don't give up your day job -- just a suggestion  )

I think a great time was had by all!!!

Love,

Virginia

Hi, there!!

Yes, we had a wonderful time at the Gala last night =D> , even though I was feeling a bit 'under the weather' with a cold that hit me on Friday morning. :( Luckily, it had settled in my throat making my voice even huskier than normal (more sexy, per Virginia!) but with the loud music coming from the band (and later the DJ), it was hard to tell the difference. The food was very good, and of course everyone there was so nice and friendly! =D>

Yes, I was definitely in PR mode, and hopefully we'll have several new members as a result. Even if they only read the Forum without joining, I'll be happy, although I would prefer that they join and participate! [-o<

Donna, even though I had seen a pic of you in drab, your hair color has changed since then  but given an extra 15 seconds or so I would have recognized your face (with or without the wig and makeup), too. Of course, I immediately recognized your voice, and then that Mickey Mouse jacket you were wearing! Thank you for introducing me to your wife, I enjoyed finally meeting her and wish we all had the time to stay for brunch or lunch so we GG's could get better acquainted.

Love ya!

- SL

To dress or not to dress. That is the question.

Hi Ladies
It's funny when people are used to you one way or another. I went to Clinton today to see a Christmas play with Gary's widow Chris at the Madison Community center. Our mutual MySpace friend Z was in the play and her husband Martin and her kids were there. They only know me as Jeannie. I went dressed as a guy today. Martin didn't know who I was and her son Daniel ,who is six and Sedona who is four didn't either. Z said" That's Auntie Jeannie!" Her kids are all confused now!
Z's sister Francesca brought their Mother and Aunt who were here from Sicily on vacation. I had to bring my birthday present from my GG friend Tink. She bought me some killer Italian heels. I'll post a picture. They are fabulous. Tink has the same pair. Life is good. Hugs ladies. Have a great week.

Love
Auntie Jeannie

Well, I reckon it can cause snow blindness now, all that grey.

TGEA GALA

Hello all: I had a good time at the gala also.
I enjoyed the band, and would endorse booking them again, but a replacement vocalist would probably be in order.
The food was better than I had feared.
The hotel room was great-- and the next morning HBO was showing MY SUPER EX GIRLFRIEND! Not a great work of art, but I enjoyed it!
My disappointments were : that I had an exact time conflict and missed the CD release party of a local band that I know, and that it is difficult to speak with everyone at events like the gala. I also noticed that a lot of people left after the band finished. I seem to recall more people staying later in previous years. Also-- I couldn't change into the second outfit I had brought along because my little tube of foundation had just enough goop left in it for one make-up procedure. Oh well.
Went in "drab" to the brunch at FREDDIES on Sunday-- not too many others attended, since no formal arrangements had been made, but the food is great and there is a lot of it. A wonderful place to have a once in a year cholesterol festival!
Several of us were dressed in "guy" mode at FREDDIES and I'm wondering if we actually acted more like "guys."
Best wishes to all for the holiday season.
Peace-- Kendra Lynn ("hippie cheerleader").

I also enjoyed the Gala.

It was nice catching up with SL, Virginia, and Donna, as well as Kendra (who attends TGEA meetings regularly).

The room was a bit smaller than in past years, but the entertainment was, IMHO, the best in the five years that I have attended this event.

I know I haven't been checking the forum regularly but I'll try to do a better job keeping in touch.

For those who do not know, my wife and I are expecting our second child (a girl) in late February.

Our first child (a boy) is now 20 months old.

Love,

Sharon

Hi Sharon.

I'll cast my vote for the female impersonators at the first gala I attended.

But the band was great.

Ahhh, to be young, in shape and able to dance. ..|/-

This years Gala is Dec. 6.

I won't be going this year, due to my daughter being thrown a baby shower.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to attend this year, either. :( We are not able to get off work on Saturday, which we would need as it's a 3.5 hour drive. We'll be there in spirit, though!!!

Donna - Hope you have a great time at the Baby Shower!!

Hi Donna,

What if she catches it? Sorry just could not resist!

We just have so many things going on right now that it is just not possible.

For any of our sisters who are even thinking about going, we highly recommend it. It is safe, lots of fun and you meet some of the nicest folk. And it is easy to get to, right off I-66 at the Ballston exit!

Hope some of you can make it!
