What is going on with all the strange usernames jan 4th. Even one was an ad for fake cialis? Do these get let on automatically?

You've noticed that the New Year has brought all the jackass spammers and spambots out of the woodwork, eh?!
No, applications for membership are never automatically accepted; they never have been in the past and they never will be in the future.
Every registration is vetted - I will not reveal that process, but it is time-consuming - and those that are accepted must also have user names that are in compliance with our rules, among other things.
Of the 40 registrations that we received on Jan. 3-4, 2011 I can tell you (with just a quick glance) that maybe 4 of those are even close to being viable. The balance are definitely spammers and/or spambots who have nothing better to do than to try to gain access to the forum and spread their spam, viruses, worms, trojans and the like. That is not going to happen on my watch! 
If you wish to know who our newest member is, that person will be shown at the bottom of the Index Page.
