I was told that i could not use the usual username i have on all forums because it did not meet the guide lines of a real sounding name, since perusing around the place i have come across many not "real sounding names". mine was yellowbronco, i have used it since the internet started. its just the color and name of my truck , since my real name is common and already always taken. and what is to say that the person was not raised by hippies or native Americans. yellowbronco sounds like a native american name. i am just a little confused as to why the name needs to be real sounding. i used to run several of these forums , so i know i will get allot of backlash from the admins here having to protect their turf, but before i decide to spend time here i really would like to know the reasoning behind the rule. not just the P.R. (pm me if you don't want to respond in public) i am in no way trying to stir the pot up. plus i don't want to have the people with the "not real sounding names" to have to change their names, that is just silly.

Re: Question
This is not an answer to your question. But if you use a username, you need to make sure it is not traceable to your non-CD self.

Re: Question
Hi, Kristina -
I originally had a lengthy reply to your query, responding to your post in detail and explaining our rules for user names and the like . . . but I realized that I don't have to explain anything - and definitely not in detail. Therefore, I will respond to you as succinctly as possible.
1. Contrary to what you wrote, if you were not 'trying to stir the pot up' then you would have asked me directly via email after I had contacted you for a name change. In the alternative, you could have sent me either an email or PM after you chose your current user name, but you did not; instead, you chose to try to "stir the pot up" via a public confrontation.
2. While you may have 'run several of these forums' you do not run this forum and, no, I'm not worried about "protecting my turf", not in the least.
3. Our rules are our rules, and they are strictly enforced. They were created and designed so that anyone with common sense, civility, morals and ethics would be able to understand and follow them, and in turn common sense, civility, morality and ethics are the order of the day for our forum. That does not mean we all agree on everything, for we do not; however, it's usually done with civility and we 'agree to disagree'. If anyone feels that they cannot abide by our rules, they are free to leave at any time.
4. This forum has - from the very beginning - required 'real or real-sounding names' for user names, and I don't need to provide a reason for it or any of our rules. The only exception to the name rules are GG/SO's who have more reason to have their identity protected, but even they are encouraged to, and are, choosing real-sounding names. That being said, even if you were a GG/SO the name of 'yellowbronco' would not have been acceptable.

Re: Question on User Names - Answered
like i said yellowbronco could have been a given name to either hippies ( ie the 60' generation or to a native american) it just happens to be the name and color of my truck that i am very proud of, having to win so many awards here locally in Virginia beach. stirring up the " pot" was just a metaphor for not wanting to cause problems, i in no way mean to do that. i really want to get along with everyone if you will have me. i did not email you directly cause i haven't figured out yet who is active and who is just a blanket email provider. so , that being said , i wish you all the rainbows and floatie clouds that you wish for in your dreams. be yea ambivalently happy in your endeavors always.
