New registrations by special request - Answered

Post by Ralitsa »

I was wondering if we have a mechanism for new members to join, even though the normal registration process is closed. I have a close friend whom I would like to join. Now she can only view some things as a non-member, or I could have her log on with my credentials, but it would be nice if she could enter as a SO and post her own questions/comments/etc.
So do we have a way to manually sign up a new member by request of a current member?

Hi, Ralitsa -

No, there is no way to manually sign up a new member; with the registration closed we are not able to accept any new members, and there is no way to get around it. :(

I understand why you would want to let her log in with your user name, but that is not a viable option. If I were to allow her to log in with your user name (which will never happen, but just saying) any posts made by her would still be listed as having been made by you, and that would just cause confusion to our members.

Unfortunately, your SO friend will need to wait until such time as our registration is open . . . and that won't occur until after the forum's software has been fully upgraded (and no, we don't have a time frame for when that will occur).
