Hay what kind of software do you use to get your avatar down to size?.
I can get it into the 100 pixel range but my file size is to big. Been wanting to change it as it is way out of date. Beauty fixed it up for me the first time but I would like to do it myself

I use Adobe photoshop Elements 2.0

If you've got the pixel size down to spec. then saving as a jpeg file at 72 dpi should get the file size down to spec.

You can try

http://www.shrinkpictures.com/

http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm (Irfanview)

http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... ySetup.exe
