Summer

Post by Domonique »

Hello everyone. As you know, summer is here again. The time of year when bbq's and family gatherings kick into gear, the busiest time of the year. Luckily today I actually have time to come in to The Haven and read some post and post something of my own.

Last month BD and I went and visited my Aunt and Uncle, whom I haven't seen in ages. Of course neither of them are in the greatest of health. It was nice to see them again though. We brought mom back with us and she stayed for a week. It was nice to have her here for Mothers Day.
During her visit I hardly had time to visit with her because I so busy in the park. The Boss was here and we were trying to finish up a major project that "couldn't wait" for the following week.

Summer time, the time of year when everyone elses world is more important than your own. I think about that statement, I realize, that yes, we can go visit friends and family, have barbeques and evening bonfires. This the time of year that we enjoy the company of friends having fun playing horse shoes and cornhole. This is the time of year for making new friends. This is the time of year that when you are done working for the day you can take a shower and sit on the porch in the evening talking with that special someone instead of sitting in front of that hypnotic screen watching shows that don't really entertain you anymore. This is the time of year that you can give that pc a break and enjoy the sunset and the full moon and the stars.

Summer time is a busy time but it is the best time to really enjoy life, family, friends and whatever else you like to do during this time of year. I say enjoy the hell out of it because you know what happens come November, yeah we sit around eating a large meal and start gaining weight again.

and don't forget Domonique, that summer is the time when you can do all of that wearing a nice sundress, or skirt and sleeveless top, or some other cute outfit because you don't have to dress like a polar bear

You are so right about cute sundresses! :) For me this summer is so special as it is the first I am spending as the woman I should have been born. Also last fall I got a convertible so I have definitely been enjoying the top down days. =D>

I agree totally with all that has been posted here so far. Since I'm a June baby, my family makes a big deal of combining my b'day and Father's Day, And rolling them into one huge party! All kinds of friends, relatives, neighbors and even a few strangers too. We all get together at our place, dig a hole (a pit actually) in our back yard, and roast a pig. I guess you might call it a luau, Minnesota style. Yeah, we even have Hawaiian music and hula dancers! So much fun. Naturally I always "dress" for the occasion. A few of our guests are also CDers, we're all very well accepted, we just act like one big happy family.

And of course there is the 4th of July. The city has their fireworks in this huge park which is right across the street from our house. 8 to 10 thousand people crammed into one city park, about 6 city blocks, it sometimes gets a little wild, but it's all in good fun. A couple of arrests over the years, but no riots or shootings or any other bad stuff like that. Nice not to have to fight the traffic too, just sit up on the deck and enjoy the show.

Of course the best part of the summer, in my estimation, is the beaches. Although I'm Caucasian, I have rather dark skin, call it olive colored. So I guess a good tan with good bikini lines is the reward I get for enduring the long cold winters up here in the North Country.

hugs,
Deb
