MAIN TEXT:
About a month ago, my wife and I were talking about updating our wills, because so many things have changed with us over the years. Just "out of the blue" she said that she thought it would be a good idea if we both specified (in our wills) that we be buried in our wedding dresses! I told her that I thought the idea was both very brilliant and very original.
When we presented the idea to the lawyers, they were totally OK with it. So our wills were updated to reflect that as well as several other updates/changes.
What the heck, why not? After all we paid a king's ransom for those dresses, it's such a shame to wear them only once.
Well twice in our case because we did wear them in a Halloween costume contest 2 years ago. Even though we've been married many years, OOPS make that decades, the dresses still fit us.
So has anybody else done or considered this idea, or are we totally "off the wall"? Feedback please.
hugs,
Deb

I've heard of dress stipulations being in the will, but no one is bound by it. The funeral director could say no. Your executor could ignore it. It could be read weeks after you've been buried, so no one would know.

I don't find that very "off the wall" at all. I have had friends buried with their golf clubs and bottles of booze. One of them with pieces of his beloved Harley Davidson and all sorts of things.
I do agree with what Donna said though in the end it may not happen. My father in law didn't want to have any reference to his military experience at the service but others in the family insisted on it so it happened. You just need to make sure that someone still living is advocating for you in these matters.
I myself am going to be cremated and I told the lawyer I wanted it in the will that my wife have to keep the urn with her at all times. He wouldn't do it, he said that wasn't a burden he would put on anyone. Of course I was just kidding around with that but I was bit startled at quickly he said no.
(Just a note here, after paying a lawyer to write wills for us the first time and reading through it all I realized how much we were paying for so little. So when since then when we update our wills we just do it ourselves.)

I am agnostic...who knows but I do believe you become drowsy...fall into a deep sleep....coma....cease to be and then you are no longer aware that you are no longer aware. The chemicals making up your body become space dust again and food for plant life...worms...whatever.
So nice thought for you if you want to stipulate how you are dressed once it is over but you will have all the sensibility of a rock at that point so it really does not matter in the least.
I would say get the most enjoyment out of your life and don't worry about what happens once you have passed out permanently. Funerals are for any who loved and cared about you...if any. Talk to them I suppose but worry about the here and now and the rest of your life - have a blast to the end.

Re: Crossdressing in the afterlife?
Hi sisters,
I am tickled by the idea of going crossdressed into the Great Beyond. What fun! Whether there is any afterlife or not, I would love to be put in the coffin dressed. Even to be cremated dressed. I won't be there to see it, but knowing ahead of time just does put a happy blush on my face.
If there is a future existence, more fun! I would rather be in a dress, heels, boobs, hair to my behind, etc., and who knows, maybe if you get what you wish for, I'll BE a girl next time. Lesbian for preference, thanks.
The standard picture of a sexless heaven, though ... all I can say is, gee, I hope not. Sexuality for me is one of the highest graces. I hope the next universe feels the same way.
I'm not being irreverent in the slightest—this is me being reverent.
Love, Marissa Mae
