Hobbies and Such

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

I am another woodworker, but no trains here, I build scale RC tugboats, trains of the sea maybe?
I am a chef by trade and I have completed a couple of apprenticeships for other trades. Anything that is hands on is pretty much a hobby for me.
I also sew and have made a few dresses for myself, not terribly good, but they were never meant to be seen by anyone but me.

My hobbies have changed through the years and are an eclectic lot. At various times I've been into woodworking, photography, model railroading, leathertooling, buckskinning (mountain man reinacting), Indian lore, arrowhead collecting, jewelry making, etc. I enjoy working with my hands and making things out of natural materials like wood, bone, antler, etc. Currently, I'm trying woodturning, though I don't have a lot of time to spend on it. May also try some more jewelry making.

A number of turners make pens out of antler. You could combine two hobbies into one. ;)

My hobbies are--you guessed it--model railroads, trains and strategic pc games.

I can understand why Model Railroader would not care to delve into this connection! I had an American Flyer train layout from age 6 to age 15, and I've always been a railroad fan. The other forum that I visit regularly is a railroad forum.

Otherwise, I'm not much of a hobbyist. I stopped drawing in my teens. Playing a musical instrument took up much of my free time as an adult--that, and reading. But I don't see either of those as hobbies.

Interesting topic...

For the past 20 odd years, building chairs has been my main interest - Windsor chairs, and Shaker rockers are what I prefer to work on.

I've taught myself to play acoustic guitar, and hope to start building those in the next couple of years, as I slide into semi-retirement. :)

Well, Hope, I guess American Flyer vs. Lionel is one of the 'third rails' of crossdresser political debates.

When I was a kid I had Lionel and my best friend had American Flyer. It was a source of frustration to us that we couldn't combine our trains. Lionel had that darn third rail.

My friend was not a cross dresser, as far as I know. :-k

Still have my Lionel, and it is on display. The locomotives run fine. HO is better for scenery.
So I concluded that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they can. People should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of there labor, for these are gifts from God.

Real model railroaders do not use Lionel which are really just toy trains. The curve radius is way too non prototypical, let alone the 3rd rail and outsize couplers. They use Kadee Microtrains, or at the very least Atlas for N scale, Athern for HO, and a huge checkbook for either S or O scale.

I've always wished there was more TT scale, it seems to combine the good points of both N and HO. Z scale is far too tiny for me.

Okay I'll take my nose out of the air now before someone says real crossdressers don't like their beards.

I like model rail roading. Used to have that combined with HO scale slot cars, but gave it all to my son.

As to the rest. Writting fiction, ham radio, just about anything relating to art as in painting, wood carving, sculpture, pencil drawing. Electronics in general, along with programming and electronic sculpture.

I love music, have two synth type keyboards and guitar and the list is too imposing to put it all down.

My latest focus has been robotics. A combination of art, electrons and mechanics.

I don't consider myself to be good at any of it, but, I have a lot of fun with all of it

Does that add to any ideaof what might be a common thread among CDs? Creativity. I have found that smart people are creative and are, what society considers to be, eccentric.
And it feels like me...On a good day

When I have a hobby, it tends to be artsy. However, gardening has always been one of the things I like to do. Not sure I'm artful with my layouts although I try. or generally creative. I don't know if you can all my web site a hobby. I try to manage it like it's important, but I enjoy keeping up with the look and the technology of it.
