Or perhaps unfamiliar.
Can someone explain what "Tailored" or Tailored Woman" Means. I may be having a blond moment without the wig.
Are there any words or phrases you have that maybe we can clear up?

It would be my interpretation that it means she had a seamstress take in let out or lengthen her clothing so that it fits her correctly. Very few women seem to have that done anymore. What with the jeans and oversized sweatshirts. Kind of like when a guy has the waist of his pants and/or length sized for his waist and inseam.
If you have an expensive dress that you like and want it to fit like it should have it "tailored."

The "Tailored Woman" was a New York specialty shop located on 5th Avenue at 57th Street, and owned by Eugene K. Denton. His first newspaper advertisement, in 1929, offered ''women's clothes of a simple character at a fair price.''
Denton closed the store in 1967, under pressure from Bergdorf Goodman, which owned the buildings occupied by the Tailored Woman and wanted to expand. The site became part of Rockefeller Center and was opposite the present location of Saks Fifth Avenue.

What a novel concept1
Clothes that fit me and are not purchased off the rack or my SO hand-me-ups.
At 6'7" maybe I should make my own clothes at least they would be tailored.
