Coat and Skirt Outfits

I would like very much to have one or two nice coat and skirt outfits to wear with a nice top or blouse. I would like the skirt length to be right below the knee.
I think this type of outfit would be perfect to go to coffee shops, tea rooms or libraries.
What do you ladies think?
Being a mature woman , I think that this would fit well with my age (72).

Martha, what do you mean a coat and skirt outfit? A suit? So few women are wearing suits and I don't know any unemployed woman wearing them. Help us out her, girl. Explain what you are think the coat should be versus a suit. Thanks, doll.

I can remember back in the 80's and 90's skirted suits were about all I wore, as a business woman it was the unwritten mandated uniform. There were times I probably had 25 or more of varying colors, styles, and appropriate for certain seasons. My how times have changed! In retrospect most of them were similar, pencil skirt ending just above the knee with a fitted jacket that could be worn without a blouse. I do fondly remember my first husband loved me in that style. Today not many businesswomen don't wear skirts let alone a skirted suit. I still have a couple of skirt suits in my closet although the only one I have worn in recent memory is the black one twice, both times to a funeral.
Not sure how you would fit in wearing one to the locales you cite Martha but in today's "wear what you want" society go for it if you feel comfortable in it. Personally if it were me for the tea I would wear a nice dress, coffee shop dress slacks and a blouse, and as for the library, well the last few times I have been there it was jeans.
