My Earliest Memories

I think I was about 7, or so
I saw the girls cycling home from the local convent school, and my attention was fixed on those long black garments they wore on their legs, under their gymslips, and I got to thinking: now what can't I be allowed wear what they're wearing? :?
Soon after that when I saw the long, skirt like garb the Christian Brothers at my school were wearing, I imagined that they must be wearing those long black stockings, underneath, also, and I thought I might like to join up when I was old enough
(but I quickly dispelled that notion from my head)

But I think the first item of woman's clothing I wore was a fabulous long blue satin ballgown that my mother had stashed away in the bottom of her wardrobe.
(I think I was about 8 or 9 at the time)
I think her sister had given it to her, but she didn't fancy it: I don't think the colour suited her.
Back then, I gave no consideration to colour coordination, or to a dress matching my hair or eyes colour.
I just loved the sensation of that satin dress, and its masses of underskirts. :)

It didn't fit me, but I was hooked!
