An amazing day ending in discovery

Post by Debra Russell »

Yesterday was the first time I have been able to get out dressed for a few weeks. it was warm and beautiful. My wife went to work early, my granddaughter was asleep as was my live-in adult son. I got up packed my things carefully in a sports bag and went to my business about a mile away. I change and get ready to go out here often on weekends as no one will disturbe me. After I changed, did my makeup and nails I videoed myself from a position of a drive-up window as I wanted to see how I looked and sounded form that viewpoint - I felt acceptable so out I went.
First stop, the mall where I took a picture in front of a store a while back, I diden't like what I was wearing so this time I went back to the same placed dressed in a new top that I bought and took another picture - turned out good. Then on to the food court for lunch, tomatoe cucumber salad and a slice of pizza and shopping at Macy's (Ibought a pair of panties) All this time and not a side-ways glance or remark, used the ladys room, freshened up my makeup and continued downtown to the waterfront Sat. Market.
At the Sat. Market I browsed the booths bought a bracelette had some ice tea and sat at a table where a young couple askes if they could join me. Of course I said and asked the young lady if she would take my picture and she was happy to. Later I asked another lady to take my picture by a fountain. OK all has been a wonderful time. It was getting late so I starter for home. When I arrived at my business I parked in front to take my things in and change. As I opened the deck lid of my car, (a red Corvette), I saw a familiar SUV come around the corner - It was a retired fire chief who I know well! He slowed down and said "he let you have the car I see" (he thought I was my wife) to which I replied "you bet" as I turned and walked into my business and he called out "lucky lady"
I am sure I left him puzzeled as I have a very deep voice even if I try to change it. As he drove off I felt "made" but not knowing. On the other hand he is gay so if he "made" me he might understand :)
This outing was great but ended a little troubleing  - It's a small town. I'll keep you posted!

Leave alone a Red Corvette - the only one in this town and we know virtually everyone. The Corvette is really my wife's and she shares it with me on weekends. I'am not recognized locally as I go dressed to coffee the market and shopping except for the car - and my wife has dark hair, maybe she will die it strawberry

I have a very recognizable car as well. With the tinted windows I hope that I can't be seen all that well the few times I get out.
I believe I was a lesbian in my past life

I told my worker as he has been with me for 11 yrs and like a son to me. He was very acceptent and I showed him my pictures, "sounds like you had fun and a good time"and as we talk a lot about things, he understands 8-[ and I trust him.
So far I havent heard any thing or seen the ex fire chief - I am not too upset or excited about about it. We'll see! :-$ Debbie

Hey, that's great, Debra, that's it's not a big deal to you one way or the other. We really have to be able to let the chips fall where they may, if we're going to do this out in the world. I was in a fairly large city (Oakland), but it's like a small town in that my customers and I use the same shopping districts. And sure enough, one morning Girl-me ran into one of them at the local coffee shop. It wasn't TOO awkward  I don't even remember exactly what I said at the time. But I'm sure she had some news for her husband that day at dinnertime!

Its great you can have someone like that to confide in, Debra... And its truely amazing how far away from home or work you can be and run into someone you know, Anita! I've had a few close calls enfemme but mainly when I'm out shopping in drab and have a cart full of skirts or lingerie or makeup and someone from work comes up "Hi, I didn't know you lived near here... Nice bra!". Lol.
