An evening out!

Post by Virginia »

Well, SL and I went to a movie tonight. Just two girls going to a movie. It was "No Country for Old Men" -review? I would recommend it, 3 1/2 stars out of 5 I guess!

Anyway we both wore skirts and I wore ankle high 3" black boots and a gray wool car coat. It really was not that cold here, 46 I believe. We walked to the ticket window and there were probably 10 -12 people just mingling about outside, some smoking, two guys (God! men are such pigs!) they whistled at us! Not loud, but we were close enough to them to know it was directed at us ---------- well, we did look good!! =D>

On the inside, SL decided she wanted some pop corn (what do they charge at your theaters? It was $5.00 for a medium here). She went to stand in line behind three other people and with one kid working the counter. Well, I was left to sort of wander about the lobby for about 5 to 6 minutes. No looks, no stares, just kind of blended in as people came and went! Then we approached the girl taking tickets and she looked at me and said "Oh, I love your nail polish!" I put out my (Revlon nails with the Strawberry Electric color) hand and lo and behold we had matching color. She laughed and I smiled and we went on our way. SL and I diagnosed the interaction and I think we both came to the conclusion that it was just two girls comparing nail polish! She did get a good look and I know she could tell that the nails were "out of the box" but they looked nice!

As we were leaving, a nice guy held the door for us with a "Ladies!" So now I have to take the polish off and get my beauty sleep. I hope I don't dream about that movie!? :-k

Get out amoungst them ladies, it is fun!

Love,

Virginia

:) That's a happy post, Virginia. I'm glad you and SL enjoyed the movie--or at least you did. How did she fare with it? I usually keep up my reading, but I'm only familiar with the title on that one. I just looked at the plot summary--sounds like it coulda been a fairly violent movie. I always like Tommy Lee Jones; I'm sure he did a fine job.

Every once in a while I'm doing something like comparing nail polish with some gal friend, and I think, "My, what a long strange trip it's been." Then I come back to the present, and don't think about it again. The Magical Mystery Tour continues, doesn't it?

Very cool!

A large popcorn here was $4.50 last time I bought any. The new butter gives me a headache, so I haven't bought any, as I don't care for it plain.

Bought some flavoring powder for popcorn at William&Sanoma recently, but haven't tried it yet, since I'm on that low iodine diet still (until tomorrow *-* ). I took raisins in to snack on last time. My wife took in some Harry & David Moose Munch with Macadamia Nuts and Milk Chocolate.

I am so happy that you and SL had a good time.

It is always so nice when one gets a good reception when going out wether it be a simple smile and i like your Nail Polish, or compliments on what you are wearing etc.

I was out shopping yesterday. The store was not busy, and when checking out the Manager of the store was on the cash. For some reason she wanted to chat a bit, and complimented me on how i looked.

keep up the good work, I know it is always a great satisfaction when some one makes a compliment, regardless of how small it is.

Hey, everyone -

I've always liked Tommy Lee Jones, and I enjoyed the movie, too. I was a bit disappointed at the abrupt ending, as was everyone else in the theater, but I guess they left the ending 'open' for a possible sequel. ***huh*** I rate the movie 3.5 out of 5 stars. =D>

Uh, yeah, I knew we looked good in our skirts and heels, but I didn't give the wolf-whistle-guy a single glance, I just kept right on walking! Virginia's right . . . men are such pigs! :P

Popcorn at the movies is expensive, and I did briefly think about getting some water to drink . . . but a bottle of Dasani water was $3.48 and there's no hug or kiss with that  . . . so I just bought the popcorn! [-(

Have a great day, ladies!

I loved this post. Last month I wound up at the movies, totally unplanned. Well, maybe by me, but my SO had her sinister ideas. Anyway, wound up at the "Mega Movie" complex near my home after a late dinner and, what the heck, I'm up for anything. I did feel a bit overdressed in a floral skirtset and 3" heels as I milled around the lobby. Like Virginia, my SO spent lots of buying time at the snack bar....ummmm...not a bag of popcorn, more like a tub. I didn't ask how much it cost, but she mentioned that I might have to get a raise. It was a fun night, totally unexpected, and another experience. No nail chat, but I didn't notice anyone noticing us which was devine. As we left, we were just two women as far as anyone was concerned. But the bad part is that we had to limit our "PDA"....ummmm...except in the dark of the theatre
Hugs all...and theres a wonderful world out there

Nice!

Closest I've come to dressing up and going to the movies with my wife was when I wore one of my fem sweaters and a double heart necklace.

I got dressed up to see "Zodiac" last March. It's a terrific film, but it didn't get a single Oscar nomination. I guess the Academy has a hate-on for David Fincher or something.
