OOPS! Fell asleep on the train again :)

Last night I was a little bored so I dolled myself up and jumped on the train into the city. I stopped at East of Eighth, a bar in Chelsea that is very popular with the NYC Tgirls. I didn't see anyone last night but just chatted with a few folks & met some friendly people...

Anyway, it was about 3am when I got on the train back to Mineola and I... uh well... I kinda sorta fell asleep on the train. Again. LOL!!! 8-[

By the time I woke up I was in Long Beach. A good half-hour past the Jamaica hub where i was supposed to switch trains! ..OO..

I would now have to wait for the next westbound train back to Jamaica in order to get back on the right track! The next train was not due to pass until 6:05 am. Yikes!

Now I didn't want to blow $30 for the cab ride home and was too far to call anyone to pick me up so I decided to just wait for the next train. I camped out on the platform for a couple of hours and woke up around 5. There was a Dunkin Donuts right on the corner so I grabbed a coffee and a doughnut. By the time I started making my way back home on the right track to Mineola the train was filled with morning commuters! I finally walked in my door about 7:30 this morning.

I'm REAL suprised that by 7am with the sun up & my makeup starting to wear thin that I wasn't getting read. (Not that I'd care if I was)

What's the moral of the story? DON'T FALL ASLEEP ON THE TRAIN!!! rotf rotf rotf

It was sort of nice though... it sort of felt like an "all nighter" to me, something I haven't done in almost a decade! I know this situation may sound frightening to many of you but to me it was sort of like a little adventure... besides Lorna has fallen asleep on the train & missed her stop many a night.. OOPS 8-[

Have any of you ever fallen asleep on the train & missed your stop? Were you dressed at the time? What would you do if you were in a similar situation?

Hi,

You have so many adventures. lol

If it were me I would have blown the $30 on the cab. I wouldn't have felt too good about getting on the train that early with the commuters.

Trains make us sleepy. The repetitive sounds and the tranquil sites at night are like being rocked to sleep. If you're tired, it's almost a guarantee you're going to fall asleep. :)

Anyway, I'm just glad you're back here and safe. :)

Hi Lorna--

"Better run through the jungle,
Whoa, don't look back to see..."
--John Fogerty

So that's my advice to you, if you happen to find yourself there.

As for 3am trainspotting, well, that's another story. One thing that comes to mind is: Girl, you live in a REAL city! Not like San Francisco, where the trains shut down at midnight, and the bars close at 2am.

I probably wouldn't have cared to blow $30 on a cab, either. But it sure is funny to think of the contrast between the clubgirl going home after a fun night, and all the commuters just starting the morning.

Oh, I've slept past the stop before, but not dressed. I almost took the train over to the city the other day, for a Macy's sale. It's kind of fun to go on the transit every so often. There's a lot more encounters than just hopping in a car.

When I first dressed, I though people would read me in the car, but they're oblivious on the road. So being dressed and driving is not much different from the ordinary.

I hope someday we have a civilized, all-night train system.

As for you, dear, be sure you have your pepper spray in your purse, that's all I ask.

Lorna,

You are truly a brave girl. I once lived in the bad apple. I was afraid to travel by train dressed en drab, much less in a dress. You absolutely rock!! I don't know how you could feel comfortable enough to actually sleep on a train in NY. Stay safe.

Nuff Luv,

Erica Shade

Indeed! They should do a reality TV show about my life. #-o rotf

Since April, has there been ONE week without me having a major story to tell? 8-[ Some good, some not so good, the bottom line is that with each interesting, unique, or unusual experience I walk away unharmed... confised as hell sometimes, dumbfounded other times, but unharmed!

Like the raccoon incident of '01...
