Stress relief, or why a dress is better than pills

Ok then, I never get out on Halloween, but with certain family pressures and all, I felt it was time for a “stress relief” trip! Plus it was my birthday lol : So, we looked at Key West (again), but the prices were way too much what with Fantasy Fest that week. Fort Lauderdale beachfront hotels…..well, it was the major boat show, so rates doubled. Onward to the left coast of Florida and we got a great rate at the Hilton on Marco Island, but I must admit to being a bit nervous not knowing what to expect….since it was gonna be all Dee time  ; and it’s a mainstream resort. Checked in as Dee, no problems, got ma’amed a lot and spent 4 days as myself……life is good! We did the touristy routine and never had a problem…spent a day on the beach (the gulf is beautiful) and a lot of time at the crowded pool sipping over-priced Bahama Mamas. The hotel pool lady had a long chat with me and was more than friendly. Even went to a movie across the street (Couples Retreat), but it was the neatest theatre….there were tables instead of rows of seats and we had beer and food served to us during the movie. So, figured I died and went to heaven. After the movie, we went back to our room…I changed into a different dress and we went to a Halloween party in Naples, which was amazing . Sadly, good things come to an end and it was back home, but it was a great, much needed break! And, as many have said here, no one really cares, so live your dreams, ya only go around once!!!!!!

Wow! Sounds like a really great time!!!!! I remember a long time ago, going to Marco Island, before it became what it is today. Anyway, my boss and I were playing a round of golf and my boss's ball landed a bit close to the water. We began discussing a sign we read at the club house about be alert for alligators (alligators????? in south Florida, who'd have thunk it!? ) Well he ignored it, said it was safe, took two steps out of the cart - huge splash and like magic an eight footer, for lack of a better term, pounced on his ball! I swear I have never seen one human actually move through time but I think he did!!! I gave him a free drop and we played on but made sure our shots were well away from the water.

Do you still have 'gators in south Florida??

I am so glad you had a good time though and it just goes to prove that society is either more accepting or just were just a girl out doing her thing! I would imagine it is the latter!

Love ya,

Virginia

Yes, Virginia, we have alligators in Florida. Even here in central Florida (Sarasota).

I live facing a large pond, and so does Paula (my SO). We have occasional 'gators there. They make good garbage disposals, and are usually small (3-4 ft). When they get big (over 8 ft.) they become a nuisance, especially if neighboring idiots feed them chicken necks. At that size they love to eat small dogs and cats, and seem to have a genetic predisposition for poodles.

At that size, we call a professional 'gator hunter.

Other natural nuisances we have here are green iguanas, and an occasional python.

Hugs,

Lydia
