No not the musical, the other day I needed a hair cut, as I was dressed at the time I thought it more appropriate to use a ladies salon. Dionne (the stylist) followed my request for a trim that would not show my own hair under my wig, would look OK when I am in drab but to still give me something that could be styled fem.

The wig looks quite cute, but I will cast me vote for your own hair. She did a beautiful job styling it, I wish my own hair could look that good. The nice thing about getting older (if there is any nice thing) is that hair styles and length, color, etc are less distinct between men and women, making it harder to distinguish.
I usually have my hair done at a ladies salon, and they always make it look so much better than I can. They tell me that I could do the same thing myself, but they are being very generous. They have given me lots of good advice about styling it, and I find that I am doing a little better with it, but have a long way to go. Well it's great that you found someone who did such a great job, I guess you'll be going there regularily now

Fits in with many older women these days who prefer a shorter cut.

I have been working on the very same problem - how to have longer hair that can be styled feminine and masculine without outing myself. Of course lots of men have such hair - I think about Hugh Grant a popular british actor. I have never had long hair, for a time early in my college years I had hair which came down over my ears, but reverted to the typical masculine style - tapered up the back, parted on one side, white walls over the ears - but I have always tried to sweep the hair back over the top and over the side in a kind of stylish flourish a la Robert Wagner, or Edward Fox in The Day of the Jackal. Albert Fenny in "Tom Jones" also sports a longer hairstyle which is also masculine but without a pony tail. On second thought, many men do have pony tails, and long hair I suppose it all depends on what we feel we would like. As I have been helping my wife with her hair I have learned the basic feminine short hairstyle with a central part and hair swept back on each side which also makes bangs in the front as the longer hair tends to fall over the forehead- this is easy and can also be styled in a more masculine way (Robert Wagner) but I am not sure how sweeping the hair back over the ears will work - I have to use a pick and a hair dryer to style it back.

I have been using Grecian Formula and have now the same hair color I had when I was younger - Ideally I will look as young and be as fit and healthy as I can for as long as I can until the day I pop off.

Your style Paula is kind of like that, I do think more length is necessary as you have said, but I do believe we can have enough length to do the calssic short woman's hair style, and a Robert Wagner or Hugh Grant style as a male. Unfortunately the longer masculine styles of the 60's and 70's seem to be out of style.

Of all the things I've lost over the years, I think I miss my hair the most.

I am lucky that we receive our hair through our mothers genes because my father lost his hair starting in this twenties, I never suspected and was shocked when I learned probably when I was 11/12 that he wore a toupe. Vanity vanity all is vanity.... but seriously, it does take a psychological toll on us if we admit it or make silly jokes such as "It's a solar panel for a sex machine!" I do believe I have some thinning, I can use menoxidil? but other people tell me my hair is thick and full. I really resented my younger sister and my mother prodding dad to go without his toupe because I always liked how he looked with hair, afterwards he never looked as good.

I am glad that my hair is long enough to begin styling it like my wife's and it is starting to look better - so much better than a wig. I have that little outward flip toward the rear, the bangs, and the hair swept toward the rear. I actually can see a bit of a woman in the mirror now and smile. Styling hair is learned, a roller brush and a blow drier help to give volume, the pick holds hair and with the drier can style in that bend in the hair. I enjoy seeing feather like bangs swept to the sides and falling over my forehead identical to that beautiful look so many women have. Styling your own natural hair is a learned skill that is well worth it and fun!

Ah... but we are lucky that there are so many beautiful wigs in various styles and shades - I remember smiling and how happy I was the first time I had my wig on at home and looked in the mirror - for the very first time in my life I saw a woman! I looked good (at least to myself) same wig in my blog picture) I have taken very good care of it since. So if you have no hair on your pate remember many women are bald or have thinning hair and must wear wigs too!

Thanks Stephanie, this weekend I was out and about and managed to wear my own hair a couple of times, unfortunately the "Boss" thought that it had got too long so today I have been Shawn!

Some months ago, I started letting my hair grow longer. I am at the point where I no longer wear a wig when out en fem. I even had my hair trimmed at a hair salon one day while out as JoAnn. That was a thrilll in itself.
