I have purchased a few pair of shoes online, but I decided Sunday to take the plung and go shoping! I went to my local Payless Sunday around 4:30 ( not very busy then , only me and one more customer) I purchased a lovely pair of 2 inch cork wedges in white. I loved being able to browse and try them on.

Best and only way to know for sure if you have a comfortable fitting shoe. I was in a PayLess store one time and the young lady came around the corner and handle me a nylon booty told me for health reason while trying on shoes

I think I confused the SA. While I was looking she came over an to tell me about the sales ans stammered the entire time. When I went to check out she did the same thing until I gave her my home phone number and my wife's name came up. She had this look of relif come over face and she "Oh, how nice your on a trip for her" I just said yes and laughed to myself.

I think your right Donna. I plan on going shoping this weekend also. I have contacted a local lingerie shop owner and have talked to her. She is looking forward to me shoping there. This will be the first time I have ever shopped and be able to truly be myself. I will be in male clothing, but still I am excited!

I haven't been shopping for shoes in a long time, and I'm really getting irritated by that

I so agree with you girls, if there is anything better than shopping for shoes, it would be shopping for lingerie.

I can hardly wait Ralista. This will be my first shoping trip that I will not feel rushed and embarrassed. Before it has always been a quick early morning trip into Walmart or going into Kohls 20 minutes before closing.

One weekend wife and I were in Macy's and I saw this cute pair of heels. I asked my wife if it was OK that I try on a pair. So I walked up to a SA and asked to try on a pair and the first thing he did was ask me to sit so he could measure my foot. It has been a long time sense I had someone measure my feet for shoes. I sat and he placed my foot in one of those metal sizing things and then go up and said he would be right back. He came back with the heels, helped me into them and I got up and walked in them and looked at them in the mirror. My wife even made a couple of nice comments about them. He took them off and put my other heels on and thanked him for his service.

Yes Joanne, the place here I shop for my shoes gives me the same treatment and they are always friendly, and at least act like they are happy to see me.

It's called a "Brannock Device" if anyone cares...

Early in my gender gifted shopping career, I was misled to think the Brannock Device was a unisex item. It definitely is not. Oh, life should be so simple when it doesn't have to be! Argh!

Anyway, in the US, you can guess your femme size by adding 1 to 1.5 to your drab size. If you have normal or wide feet (D or E or EE or worse), you'll have trouble with width on femme shoes, as the typical width for ladies is about an A width for a man.

Open heeled shoes and sandals are slightly more forgiving of being undersized.

Pumps have to fit properly. Take it from someone who wore them too short for years, and is paying the price.

Thanks, Bernice. I have 8E (my brother has EE, but he's not CD) and I definitely do have problems getting into girl's shoes. Over here I've found, quite often, that my girl size is 7...

I have everything from 7 to 8 and half, I tend to look at the EU size more now, usually a 42 but always worth trying on first.

I have a high instep and broadish foot but short for a man. Very few shoe shops seem to have variable widths now-a-days and so I take anything between (Aus size) 7 and 8 in mens and have to reject many styles because they are ridiculously too long once I can squeeze into them width- and instep-wise but I'm nearly always OK in a 10 in womens. I guess the open plan, higher heel style is more forgiving of my instep problem. I buy on size when shopping for women's shoes and take them back and swop in the rare event I'm one size out.
