Yesterday I went into a Soma store to see if I could purchase an open
bust body suit. I wore my bra and breast forms under my coat along with
a pair of panties. It was a small store and when the SA asked me if she
could help me I said that I was looking for a open bust body suit. She brought
me to the rack that held them and said she would be right back. I found a
large and x large and was not sure of the size. The SA returned and asked if
I found one and I showed her two and said I am not sure of my size and
wondered if I could try it on. She said sure and pointed me to a fitting booth.
I tried them on with and purchased the Large size. Really a great day.
Anyone can do it. I am sure they have see a lot of CD's judging from her reaction.

"Soma" gets my vote.. I went to the one in Bellevue Square and even though they did not have my size the SA spent at
least 10 minutes showing me things and telling me where she thought I might find what I wanted. In total man mode BTW.

Most national chains have pretty decent policies in place. They exist to sell product, period, and they really don't care who their customer is. Any sales associate who turns down a sale because they personally disapprove is risking losing their job as a result.

Of course all of this can be influenced to some degree by local attitudes. Bellevue Square is where I learned to stop worrying about asking to try clothing on while in drab, it was my go-to destination as I started to contemplate transition, and it's where I built most of my wardrobe for the first two years I lived as a woman. I've literally never had a bad experience in any store in that mall, Lisa, so you're definitely in good hands.
