My "First Day Out Playlist"

My first day out on Friday included a one hour drive to the place where I would be made up and generally pampered :-) So, I put together a playlist for the iPod with some appropriate tunes. In no particular order.....

Belinda Carlisle - Live Your Life Be Free
Pink Floyd - Arnold Layne :)
The Who - I'm Free
T'Pau - Secret Garden
Queen - I Want To Break Free (whose who recall the video will get the joke)
Paul McCartney - Another Day (see my introduction)
Amen Corner - Bend Me, Shape Me (a reference to the underpinnings of the day!)
Raspberries - Go All The Way
Dave Clark Five - Glad All Over
Ratt - I Want A Woman
Martha Reeves - Nowhere To Run
Roxette - Listen To Your Heart (Last one, planned to come just I got to the place in case I was having doubts)

Theme: I'm free to do this, I want to do this, I'm doing this, I'm going all the way and I'm happy to do it!

Great collection of tunes. Will make any one reflect on what is going on around them.

Now that the first day out has come and gone, do you have any new songs for the playlist? A dreaded event that came and went uneventfully, is that All there Is? Peggy Lee, or something by Eric Clapton?

You should add Shania's "Man! I Feel Like A Woman"

My before, during and after track would be "True Colors" by Cindi Lauper. But there's also her rather more familiar "Girl's Just Want To Have Fun".

I'm with you Anthony on "Girls Just Want To Have Fun." As I have said before I have a fairly rigind playlist that I hardly differ from, my favourite are Carpenters tracks and The Corrs, they make me feel so girly and I can sing in a convincing female voice which makes me feel so great. This may sound a bit perverse but I love dancing in fronnt of the mirror, I am exhausted after these sessions but I feel so elated. If only I could have dressed like this for extended periods in my teenage years, I would have given anything to wear the then fashionable go go boots and tan tights.

I am caused to listen to a top hits contemporary station while driving someone home from school in the afternoon. I listen to half an ear most of the time but a new one by Alicia Keys is called Girl on Fire. Here's some lyrics for you, if the event went right.

Looks like a girl, but she's a flame
So bright, she can burn your eyes
Better look the other way
You can try but you'll never forget her name
She's on top of the world
Hottest of the hottest girls say

Lyrics stolen from Alicia Keys website. Just a thought.
