Going to my first Tri-ess meeting

Post by Melyssa Anne »

Well, we are going to go to our first tri-ess meeting this weekend. I am not sure what to expect. It took several tries to finally connect with the local chapter so they would tell us when and where they meet -- their voice mail system evidently takes the message, but won't give it up to them. Isn't technology grand! :P

Anyways, its a bit of a hike, but Stormy and I are talkiing about spending the night down that way and goind shopping either Saturday before the meeing or Sunday after the meeting. We can't decide.

Any insights on how these meeting go? Do they have a seperate meeting for the wives/so's?

I am looking forward to another day or two out -- doesn't take much of an excuse for me to get dressed and go out!

Have a friend in the area who use to attend - she also used to post on this forum! Well, that's another story, but just have fun. I know one of the things that really surprised me (I should not have been surprised - I guess) is just how friendly everyone is!
Have fun and we can't wait to hear how it goes!

I belong to the Dallas Tri-Ess chapter. I can tell you that in my chapter the wifes do get together and have their own meeting, then they sit in on the general meeting. We usually have a pot luck dinner before the general meeting and after the meeting, we usually have a presentation of one kind or another. Then after the meeting a few of us goto the local IHOP and have coffee.

In Denver, the meetings are for the entire group. Wives and SOs are encouraged to attend and usually do. The SOs also do activities by themselves apart from the main group, but usually on a different day. This gives them a chance to talk without the CDs hanging on every word.
It's a good blend.
Tri-Ess is a good group. Chapters vary, but the overall goal is the same.

I hope you have a good time.
Hugs,
Kyra

From what I understand, meetings of the local chapter used to be a big deal. The meeting weekend was a huge undertaking, with many members coming into town the Friday before and taking excursions of some sort. Then came the meeting on Saturday, sometimes followed by a drab breakfast outing Sunday morning. Nowadays, the group is smaller, yet more spread out, so we're usually limited to the Saturday get-together. We meet at a hotel from 1-5pm, then break for dinner. After dinner, we go back to the hotel, and some of us typically disperse to a bar for more socializing.

Meetings

I have been to one (1) meeting. It was in Memphis,Tenn some years ago. I found it to be interesting. There was one pre-op person there, who was a Memphis police officer, who was just completing his year of living en femme, and was going in for the surgery in a couple of weeks.

I am now living in Northern VA, and I am going to attend some of the meetings of the local groups, soon.
